Hey guys, check it out- I'm an honest-to- goodness Movie Reviewer now!
http://www.majorspoilers.com/archives/19090.htm/#more-19090
I've been hired to write a review each week, so when they go up, I'll post them here for anyone who wants to read them.
Look at you, promoting yourself and everything. You should be ashamed of yourself. Yourself and the shameless promoting you're doing.
In other news, congrats (again) on getting the position. Now I no longer have a reason to scold you for not reviewing something. *sigh* This changes our dynamic greatly.
Heh, and I almost forgot to mention how much help Premv was with this review. Thanks again for pointing silly things like "spelling" and "correct grammer" to me. Thanks, buddy!
Yay! Hitman is famous! Please introduce me to Megan Fox, Scarlett Johanson, and most importantly, Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Congrats!
Now we all know your name, MR. DUNHAM! BWAHAHAHA
Oh noes! My secret identiny!
Comic Book: The Movie Review is UP!
http://www.majorspoilers.com/archives/19705.htm/
Help me out... did the first responder razz me for being wrong in my review or not? I'm having a hard time deciding.
I think he/she agreed and disagreed. Us non-reviewers are allowed to do that, Velma! ^^. *returns to little ol' shack*
DVD Review: Comic Book Villains (http://www.majorspoilers.com/archives/20505.htm)
Good movie, definitely worth a watch.
So can we call you bad names when we don't agreed with you??? Oh wait we do that anyway
Congrats,
Any benefits? Premieres, special screenings?
Nah, no benefits yet, although I may have convinced my local video store guy into giving me a discount.
The podcast guys are coveringthe first volume of the Tank Girl comics, I decided to throw this together last-minute:

Really great show, lots of laughs. Whole lotta fun.
Hey... I read that Fanboys review by you! Totally randomly finding it on the internet...
Except after reading it I didn't come to the same conclusion you did on it being a good movie.
Still, good job. Way to go! Wotta way to make a buck!
New review just posted:
DVD Review: Meteor Man (http://www.majorspoilers.com/archives/22573.htm/)
Yay, more Hitman reviews... and yet, I'm suddenly reminded that I'm missing a highlighter. :P
Were there THAT many errors, Premv?

Review: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (http://www.majorspoilers.com/archives/23016.htm/)
I don't know... I just have this feeling that I'm going to get ripped apart for this review, since it's not strictly 'comic book' related...
In fact, I've just been informed that I am at this moment being ripped apart. Well, looks like this is my last review. Thanks for reading them, guys.

Last review? Hitman, say it ain't so!
Well, the long and short of it is, I picked the wrong movie to review, and the Wrath of the Fanboy came down hard. The site moderator spent all yesterday morning deleting flagrant attack messages. He sent me the worst one, and man... I've never been hated on that much before. It was almost funny. I can post it if anyone wants to read it.
But good news! I can still write reviews! I just can't pick the movies i review until further notice.
Sgt. Pepper is a movie people either seem to love or hate. The musical performances are mostly great (I actually prefer the Aerosmith version of "Come Together" over the Beatles' version, but Alice Cooper is just awful, for instance), but that's about it. The movie's plot sucks.
I haven't seen it in a while, but do the Bee Gees do "A Day In The Life" in the film, or did they cover that later on? Its another Beatles song done by someone else that I prefer over the original.
Yeah, I really liked Aerosmith's cover of "Come Together." And Earth, Wind, & Fire's "Got to Get You into My Life" was spot- on awesome.
I think the Bee Gees covered that song before the movie was made, but don't quote me on that. I know they had a few covers done earlier in their career.
And I guess I should have been more specific... they didn't rip me for the movie, they ripped me because it wasn't a "Comic Book" movie (despite the fact that it was adapted to comic for in Marvel Super-Size Special #7). One guy went as far as to call me "a talentless, worthless, clueless waste of space." Kinda funny, really.

Oh, you actually got my e-mail? :P
I'm sorry you got a lot of flak, sir Hitman. Tis the way of the internet. People lose their manners and go straight for the jugular; however, I'm curious about what they sent you. I'd like to know how much I'll have to up my game the next time you upset me (in exactly 1 day from now. :P)
I would actually like to read the post of the gentleman with too much haterade. If it ain't family friendly you can PM me.

PMs have been sent, gents. Anyone else curious can get in to it as well.
Hey guys, I have a favor to ask. I set up a "Suggestions Thread" over at the Major Spoilers Forum. If anyone has any suggestions, could you kindly send 'em my way?
Here's the thread:

I am cruious as well. Btw, that was a great review! I remember seeing this and loving it for its quirky offbeatness! It is in no way an amazing film, but it is a fun family friendly(for the most part) movie, with some great covers of great songs!
Hey look, kids! I reviewed a New Release:

So, for the next review, I'm either gonna cover The Shadow, The Phantom, or The Rocketeer. Any preference?
Review the awesome movie before the mediocre and terrible ones.

Movie Review: Avatar (http://www.majorspoilers.com/archives/30510.htm/)
Interesting take Hitman. I'd say you hit the middle-ground point-of-view in reviewing this movie.
Like any other reviewer you went for the predictable it looks nice, but there's no story angle. Well, I for one believe you didn't go deep enough. You started to touch on it with the USB port analogy, but didn't quite get there.
The real story, like so many of James Cameron's other Sci-Fi films goes beyond the simple narrative.
There are themes of isolation and interconnectedness throughout the movie that should cause us to examine how or why the Na'vi are so great, while humans aren't.
The Navi use a technology just as the humans do, augmenting bodies to go beyond their natural limitations (a very explicit predicament, as the main star is confined to a wheelchair).
While Cameron has explored before in Aliens the monstrous augmentation of bodies, here it seems almost sublime, even revered by Lang's character.
The troubling thing is that the Navi are able to use technology effectively AND coexist with nature by sole virtue of their genetic makeup, something humans truly lack.
Even the audience isn't genetically capable of witnessing this dream of James Cameron's come to fruition without technological aid (the 3d glasses)
Anyway, I just find it interesting the intricacies of the two societies that are presented.
Heck I've seen the film twice now in 3D and I still haven't got my bearings straight on it yet.
I've seen avatar and...meh. It's pocahontas with a 300 millions dollars buget. And 3d glasses.

Yup. You're supposed to be so distracted by the pretty effects and strong performances (from everyone EXCEPT the male lead, oddly enough) that you don't notice how utterly predictable, cliche-ridden, and overly preachy the script is.
It drives me up a wall that "Sherlock Holmes", a film that is better in every way save for visual effects keeps coming in second to this overblown, albeit pretty piece of tripe.
From the trailers of Avatar I was uninterested. The interviews with the stars and JC himself made me even less interested. I think I will pass on this all together. I will give Sherlock Holmes a good look given suggestion from you all and others.

Overall, a good review, however I'm disappointed that you put all of the blame for the behind-the-scenes controversy on the studio. The *real* reason all of that went down was the Salkinds and their way of making movies. They didn't like Donnor because he wouldn't mindlessly bow down to their wishes. The only positive thing the Salkinds really did was bring the Superman family (Superman, Supergirl, Superboy) back to the screens, live-action. Anything that resembles quality in any of those products is totally due to quality actors, writers, and directors (which were sometimes sorely lacking).

I loved this movie, myself. It wasn't the awesomeness of the first IM film, but it was totally enjoyable.
Was it complicated and chaotic? Yup. But so is Tony Stark.
Spoiler
I cringed to see him drunk and partying in the armor, knowing something bad was going to happen and feeling the tension. Yeah, it set up the fight between Tony and Rhodey, but more importantly it showed him coming apart. And the fight itself set up Rhodey becoming War Machine.
It did a decent job bringing SHIELD into Tony's world, setting up the Avengers movie, and portraying his emotional state. It did all of that and it was fun besides.
Not to mention much can be forgiven after watching the briefcase armor suit up... The geek-cool factor shot through the roof.

Funny thing about this movie....
When I was 5, my mom took me to see it as part of a free series of kid friendly movies a local theater had for the summer. At the time, I was bored and thought it was dumb.
For many years I kept this impression and then one slow saturday on campus while I was in college, I was flipping channels and came across it already in progress and suddenly came to realize that it was frickin' hilarious and unlike how it had been originally presented, this was NOT a kid's flick, not because of "mature" subjects or anything like that, but because you need a few years under your belt in order to get the camp.
From the Vault: Generation X (http://www.majorspoilers.com/archives/40053.htm/)
Very, very bad.
Indeed. I remember a group of us seeing that in my dorm room in college. We didn't expect much, but we died expect more than what they gave us.

Hey everyone! Check out this review I wrote for a site I designed!
The Muppets (2011) [Review] (http://www.pizzaxtremeteam.com/2011/12/05/the-muppets-2011-review/)
Yay, you're reviewing again! I would check that link, but I don't wanna risk spoilage. I'll def check it laterage.
It's a nice review, but in relating the history of the Muppets, you missed there couple of years foray into Youtube only internet videos, which led to this movie being made. The muppets did disappear for a while, but until the movie was made, there was a steady stream of original Youtube Muppet videos, most of which are awesome.
That's very true, Cat, and I probably should've included the Youtube stuff, but I was trying to stick mainly to TV and film appearances from the Muppets.
OK, I know this should probably be in Comics, but I think 3 different threads linking to one site is a bit ridiculous. I picked 6 books from my pull this week at random and super-briefly covered them. You can read it here if you like. (http://www.pizzaxtremeteam.com/2011/12/08/the-pull-list-1-%E2%80%9Cpull-list-begins%E2%80%9D-review/)
So does anyone like Italian Kung-Fu Westerns (http://www.pizzaxtremeteam.com/2011/12/13/my-name-is-shanghai-joe-1973-review/)? I know I do!
Hey lookit! I wrote some stuff! (http://www.pizzaxtremeteam.com/2012/03/08/the-pull-list-3-revenge-of-the-pull-list-review/)
...
OK, so it's not a movie review. However, I don't want to start a new thread just for more shameless self-promotion.
Wow, I think I'm the only one who reads this thread...
Anydangways, the first episode of my podcast went up last night. Check it out, won't you?
