Title: How Far Can I Go?
Post by: BentonGrey on July 18, 2009, 03:44:25 PM
So guys, I know that there is an upper limit to how many missions you can have in a campaign, but does anyone remember what that number is?  I'm trying to debate whether I should tack my JLA/JSA crossover onto the end of my JLA campaign, so that it provides a continuous adventure.

I'm not sure that a limit has been firmly established for FFvTTR, although there was one for FF.  Even so, Mike's trickery used for Patriot City could be used to extend a campaign theoretically as long as you liked, if it were adapted for that use.

Thanks for the response Cat.  Any idea what the one for FF was?  I think I'll be under it (just in case an FF2 one exists and is similar), but I'm thinking about instituting a few things that I won't bother with if I'll have to start the next story arc in a new campaign.  The Patriot City angle seems intriguing.  I may have to look into that.

I don't recall what the actual limit was for the first game, or even if it was really a limit or some problem with one of the missions that had to be worked around. I'm pretty sure the DAT file is structured to allow at least 255, though there may be some other limit internal to the game engine.

Does anyone know what the longest mod is? Counting missions and sub-missions (I assume any limit would be based on both), the original FF campaign was 38 missions. Several FF mods had 30+ missions; I know The Strangers had 31.
