Make of this what you will. Natalie Portman is Jane Foster in the upcoming Thor movie

Not who I would have chosen, but she's a talented actress. I'm okay with this.
Jane who?
I don't really know enough about Jane Foster to have a favorite for the role, but I think Natalie Portman is excellent. I think she's shown talent early on in L?on and I liked her in V For Vendetta.
My only vague concern with a casting choice like this - pairing a well-known actress with a relative newcomer like Hemsworth - is that there is a temptation to expand the role of Jane Foster too much. This is just a gut reaction, but a Thor movie (especially the first one) should spend a lot of time on the Asgardian aspect. I hope they don't try to make the character "more accessible" by using that mostly as backdrop.
But, that's up to the writers. However the role is written, I believe Portman can play it.
I like that the article there mentioned Asgard a lot. That gives me more hope.
I like Portman. But I was under the impression most of this film would be in Asgard which I'm in favor of, so I'm a bit concerned about Foster being in it.
I had just watched V for Vendetta last night with my daughter (her first time and she loved it). I can't see a thing wrong with her being cast... she's a top notch talent. Now if they can just get a good Captain America....

V for Vendetta is what I thought of as well. It really is the litmus test for her ability, at least to me.
WHAT? V4V can't hold a candle to the masterpiece that is Where the Heart Is. THAT is acting at its finest!
