So I was just fiddling around with my iPod and realized that it is several years old. It's still going strong and I feel no need to replace it, but I am struck that the only place where I have all of the music on my iPod is my iPod. It contains stuff cobbled together from 3-4 different computers. Which means it it goes kablooey there is no way I could replace the music.
I know iTunes does not allow you to copy music from your iPod to your library, but are there any utilities out there that would?
Use songbird and download the i-pod compatibility function. It makes it so that you can copy music on and off and I think your playlists and other custom settings as well.
Honestly I think everyone should use songbird instead of iTunes, I downloaded it because my g.f. has an I-pod and Songbird is just so much more liberating. Personally I use a cowoon though, so all I have to do is drag and drop mp3's, heck, I've often used my mp3 player as a portable thumb drive: for example I copied a bunch of fallout 3 mods I made into a folder so I could bring them to a friends house. I also have a folder on my player with several free antivirus and spyware removal programs in case I need them when I'm at a friends house or something.
