Title: Booster pack III: Super Science!
Post by: Reepicheep on June 25, 2009, 12:25:50 PM
Details (http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=13666885)

Costume Screenies (https://boards.cityofheroes.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=13668512&an=0&page=0#Post13668512)

Emote videos (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5Oh91TURvQ&fmt=18)

Not as exciting costumes as the magic booster, I think... The head details look pretty neat, with new gasmasks that should benefit my guy Journeyman. But I REALLY like the sound of being able to change body type per person.

I'll have to think about this one.  I don't have a lot of need for any of those features, although I'd probably like to see the costume pieces available in MA and I could use some of them for certain characters.

I find myself wishing they had expanded the whole rubber thing.  It would be cool to have a character in rubber from head-to-toe, though I don't even understand myself why I'd want to do that.

"Oohhh... shiney... squeaky..."

I realize they put a lot of effort into making those costume pieces... but I'm starting to have a problem with the idea that they build a booster around a few costume pieces and emotes and then charge an extra $10 for it.  I'd really like to see something a little more substantial.  Is Super Tailor worth $10 to me?  Maybe if I had a strong character concept that called for it.  As it is, I'm not so sure.  I think that should have been included in an issue and give it to everyone.

Now, a feature I'd pay good money for would be the ability to switch builds on the fly while simultaneously changing costumes with a change costume emote and do the size/body type change as part of the costume change.  "Mazahs!"  (read that backward)

 "She blinded me with science!"

That Super Tailor Feature thing seems awesome, allows us to make Dr.Jekyll/Mr.Hyde type toon and if I'm reading this correctly even allow female to have a male body outfit and vice versa.  :o

That's just the problem for me, though.  They didn't extend that idea far enough.

If I'm going to change sizes and body types as part of a transformation, shouldn't that be about more than just a simple costume change?  Logically I should be able to really change the nature of my character, even possibly to the point of switching to a new AT.  It should be very similar to how the multi-build feature works, except with the ability to tie a costume change to the build swap and I should be able to do that on the fly (with appropriate time delays) without visiting a trainer to do it.

Picture Dr. Jekyll as a humble Empath/Rad Defender.  The team gets into a bad situation where they need another tank.  Dr. Jekyll injects himself with the serum and transforms into Mr. Hyde, a powerful Willpower/Super Strength Tank.  He's forced to be Hyde for another 30 minutes or so, or until he visits a trainer.  (Actually that would work better villain side, but you get my point.)

They could never do that as a general ability. Otherwise why make an alt if every character can be every character?

However, that would be a great idea for a new Archetype. Much like the multiple forms for VEATS and EATS, a character who every 10 levels can earn a new set of powersets which they can switch every 15 minutes or something.

Ooooooo!

Look at all the goggles and breathers.

It's like this pack was made just for me!

Emotes are pretty cool too.  :)

Super Tailor is makes this booster worth buying.  I have two costumes for one of my characters, a civilian look and a heroic look.  I'd like the civilian to be smaller...a normal person...than the hero.

Or for example, I don't know, a werewolf?

Having a true change of shape & size, not just costumes is nice... I forgot about that feature of this pack.

Had quite a few characters in mind with some cool transformations... I'll certainly have to revisit those ides now.

Or something.  That sounds reasonable to me. :)
