I'm trying to run the original FF on Vista 32, but whenever I start it up I get an error saying 'alert init:renderer'. My FF is patched to 1.3, my graphics card is a Geforce 8800 with the latest drivers, what is going wrong?

Are you running the Steam version or off the original CD.
Others have had this issue with the disc version when running Vista. Some were able to fix it by rebooting, others I think backed out their video drivers to an older version, but I don't think a final solution was ever found. The Steam version from what people have said seems to play nice with Vista (assuming the issue isn't with your video card and drivers), but I continue to run XP so I can only go by what other posters have said.
I think it may be a graphical error although I'm not sure. Debating whether or not I should risk wasting paying ?3 to see if the Steam version runs.
