Title: Creating characters in Blender?
Post by: Feynt on May 30, 2009, 08:38:05 PM
I found NifTools (http://niftools.sourceforge.net/wiki/NifTools) during my searching for any kind of instructionals on how to make a character for Freedom Force.  However whenever I see NifTools mentioned, it seems to relate to static meshes.  I was curious if there's anything I need to be aware of if I wanted to model, rig, skin, and animate my own character in Blender.  Does anyone have any experience using Blender to make characters?

I have very minor experience with this, but i do know that its possible, because if they have max files, then you could probably convert it.
I have used other engines and converted max files for blender. Its possible but, im not sure how.

I'm no expert, but it think the only thing you could do in blender is build the mesh pieces yourself. then it would have to be imported into 3ds max for final rigging and and animations.
I think someone like Tomato would have more information about this, as he had made a jump into full time meshing with max after starting with milkshape or blender.
