Well, I been working away and I finally finished making the test video for the Marvel/DC crossover short (or most likely a series) made with Freedom Force. Some you you might remember me talking about this. It's nameless at the moment so the project name is simply JLA / Avengers or 'the Marvel/DC short' as I like to call it ^_^.

JLA / Avengers: Prelude

The test video is made with Freedom Force meshes but not with the FF footage yet. That will be in the actual series itself but in the mean time this serves as a nice teaser video.
I managed to get a great cast of voice actors together and I think that alone makes it much better than the Marvel Civil War short animation (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPSLtnlqzCY) I did a while back.
Moreover, I was up for showing some people how they could make similar films within Freedom Force though at the time there wasn't much interest. I'm still up for writing about production processes if any1 wants to learn.
Hope you like it, and tell your friends!
I loved it!
That was really well done, nice job! Its great to see Freedom Force and its custom content authors being used in different ways besides the norm, definatly looking forward to what is next.
fantastic work, you two make a great pair. the animation was superb
That was pretty cool. I'm interested in seeing what else you do with this.
Amazing stuff Nemesis! I loved the Civil War animation! This looks like it will be even better!
that was cool!hey, where can i get that black cat.
WOW! Can't wait for the series to start. Has prduction started yet?

I would like to learn. Is it terribly hard and would such programs take up alot of disk space?
Interesting
Glad people are liking it so far, I'm quite excited about doing it. I'd like to answer some questions, but then also ask a few.
Herodad, that black cat uses female basic straighthair, with the furry bits and boots from some other model which I dont have the name of right now (on my laptop). It looks very similar to the one in the vid, but with bigger breasts I believe. I thought they were too big, but in-game that is most likely the version I will use when filming.
docdelorean I start writing the script next week (had to be sure I had the cast list locked down).
As for learning, no it's not terribly hard, but it does require a little focus. Having a lot of harddrive space is pretty much a part of video editing though.
Now my own questions.
Should I say thanks to the FR community in the end creds? I wanted to, but with the resent threats from the d00d who was somewhat recently banned (No, I won't say his name but u know who I mean!), I thought maybe I should't directly mention the community, or link to it. Dunno how others feel.
Secondly, some things in there were kinda improvised and I'd like to improve on them. A great example being the unmasked Spidey. Does any1 have any ideas for a head/skin that would work better for that (I already tried Kyle Rayners head, did seem to suit him)?
A+ job! Congrats! Great choice on the meshes/skins and voices.
Looking forward to see more!
I see no reason not to thank the community. We are promoting ourselves in Steam after all.
Anyway, awesome work so far. I really look forward to what you come up with.
i would say do what your doing credit the individual artists
cook ink meshes being used .lol
That was pretty awesome.
I just couldn't stop cringing at those old skins of mine. I really need to update Black Cat!
i would like to compliment the writing. nailed the characterizations.
Thanks guys. I'm looking to make some improvements for the actual series (things that would be boring for me to explain here).
One problem I've run into though is that 512x512 is just too small a texture size for how close the camera is to the characters (as you can see for yourselves, on their bodies). Do any of you skin artists work at 1024 at all?
I'm also gonna do a little smoothing on the meshes so that they hold up better in those close ups. From a distance they look fine but Spideys pointy shoulders for example, I wanna try and get rid of. Since all the in-game shots will most likely be wide shots, they should still match.
Very cool. Can't wait to see more.
I like this idea! I think once youve established your show, you should do an Amalgam comics episode. I think that would be cool!
Great to see these skins and meshes in motion. Good job!
In case anyone wants to follow the progress of the series, I try to keep a blog, hehe. Day job keeps me busy but I'll try and keep it updated while I do this series.

I like that you are gonna keep things up through your blog! I watched the prelude again and i have only one suggestion with voicing. With Wolverine i think it needs to be more deep in pitch and a tad grungy from the throat. Else wise you are spot on! Good luck!
That guy actually isn't voicing Wolverine in the series. I had decided before finishing the prelude that It would be too difficult to keep him as Wolverine (for technical reasons that are probably somewhat boring and lengthy to explain). However I appreciated his good work so kept his performance in for the prelude.
what other characters are you thinking of including
The characters in the test were all the good guys I think (unless I cameo some others). I dont wanna say who the main bad guys are yet though, thats part of the mystery the good guys have to work out ^_^. Lucky they have Batman on the team, hehe.
I really like this idea! How often are episodes going to be broadcasted?
Hey doc, it's great to know your looking forward to it. It's hard to say how often I'll be able to release the episodes cause I also do this sorta thing in my dayjob. Too much at work means I spend my spare time doing something else when I get home :(. Whats more is that I want to animate some cool fight scenes rather than recording all the combat in FF. That will take 10X longer but I think could look 20times better. + I still wanna write a little tutorial on how others can make FF animations too. Much to do.
Sorry if i seemed pushy. This is something i would enjoy doing, maybe i will look into it. Let me know when your lessons start Sensei Nemisis. I would like to see/make a ghostbusters series. So much potential in the GB neighborhood.
Go for it!
Extremely well done. Very professional looking and sounding. I'm amazed you could accomplish something like that with something like FF.
Just checking if there was any update, forgot about it for a while and wanted to see whats up!
Will be continuing this when I get back from my hols :) (pretty much means I resume in January).
Had to stop all home based projects for a while cause the day job demanded more time, but things should be going back to normal now.
