I'd put my money on Spawn.

me too. Although I really dislike the character, He seems significantly more powerful. I don't know him that well though so I could be wrong.

Well lets take a few things into consideration. Ghost rider has beaten galactus before, Spawn is somewhat reluctant to use his power. Both of them are of a demonic nature, both of them have powers that are specifically meant to harm daemons. They both use chains, one of them has a more powers than the other but has a limited battery the other one has a daily time limit.

check out spawn's wikipedia entry.
He had been the king of Hell at one point, and also had been given the powers of god so he could reconstruct Earth and everybody in it.
I'm sorry but GR definitely was never this powerful.
I still say take the two classic interpretations of the characters and it would be a darn good fight.  but I have a feeling the penance stare could overwhelm al simmons.

I like Spawn, but I think that GR would whup his butt.  GR has a cool bike and a shotgun.   That beats out a cape and chain any day.  Who wins when you bring a cape and a chain to a gun fight?

I'm gonna go Ghost Rider. WHen GR took on the Avengers way back in the 80's, Thor threw his hammer at him. GR raced against the hammer on his bike. When the hammer turned around, GR grabbed ahold of it and rode it back, knocking out Thor. During WWH, GR went toe to toe with a perma mad Hulk. (Though Hulk did hit him into a new alighnment). Spawn had a hard time beating Batman.

never read that. Gotta be careful of those writers on drugs! I'm most familiar with the character form his original solo run where he was nowhere that powerful. nor that improbable event creating.

Steamteck has a point. Also, that Thor hammer thing is beyond annoying as a whole. Many writers have written him as too dependent on it in general, so Thor can sometimes be a bad indicator of how powerful a character is. The "riding the hammer back and knocking him out" used to be a common way to take him out of a battle and not really an indicator of how powerful said character riding hammer was.

As for Spawn and Bats...um, doesn't that sound like one character was weakened and one was powered up? No offense to Bats, but Spawn fights creatures from hell and heaven on the daily...Bats is a normal guy.

No offense intended but the "Meej-o-meter" says... Who cares who wins?

I wish that every time somebody posted a VS thread somebody else ran in in the Danger Room with some good hero files and posted images.

I think Spawn would win, but he would get the tar knocked out of him pretty bad. If I had the game installed right now (and I was not at work) I would run it... my spawn and my ghost rider where both really good. My spawn had lots of small cost powers and melee attacks that he could use to avoid expensive magic, but when necesary he could teleport, heal himself or alter reality. Ghost rider was a solid and hard to wound scrapper with a mental damage inflicting penance stare.
