Title: bruce wayne, spiderman
Post by: bearded on May 03, 2009, 06:53:19 AM
an elseworlds skin idea, hoping to inspire a creative artist type here.

"-as if in answer, a huge spider swung in the open window."
bruce wayne, "a spider!  that's it!  it's an omen. I shall become a Spider."
(misquoted from the origin.  here's another!)
and of course, this one needs doing as well.
"Accidently absorbing a huge amount of radioactivity, the dying bat, in sudden shock, bites the nearest lving thing, at the split second before life ebbs from it's radioactive body"
peter parker, "ow!"
peter parker, the bat-man.

I was working on this a while ago. I had a similar idea.  but mine was more Peter Parker the Bat-man
I was working on a skope and everything, based off the VX Baron Blood mesh.
but like a lot of things i'm creatively stuck.

Ah, but Bruce would be more like the pulp Spider, except that he wouldn't have the body count. He would probably look a lot like the old serial version of The Spider, and carry a gun that fired webs and swinglines. And he would have a utility vest (like Doc Savage) under his coat.

I like the idea of a dark blue and gray Spider-Man costume, with glider wings instead of underarm webbing (I like underarm webbing). And bat ears. He would shine his Bat-Signal into a crowd of crooks to scare them. "Jeeze-it's da Bat-Man. RUN!"

Funny you guys should say this. About 2 months ago, a friend and i were contemplateing a concept similar to this. It is more of an amalgam, but this pic is similar to what you are describing. The only difference being the web shooters on the arms and the utility belt. Also, the cape was supposed to look like webbing(like in spiderman unlimited, only black instead of yellow/cream). What a crazy random happenstance?

I've no skinning skills whatsoever. Should someone decide to do this, i give it my full blessing. Just let me know who is skinning it so i can look out for it.

I might do that one also. Be fun. Not getting anywhere scoping Bananaman

I'm looking at whether or not PeterBat would go on Black Bolt Nofork or a Tom Versatile mesh better. I'm also trying to figure out if BruceSpider would look like The Spider-Master of Men or not.

Pretty cool but.... Why does he have bat ears?

The illustrations is basically Spider-Bat, while we are discussing Bruce Wayne becoming Spider-Man and Peter Parker becoming Bat-Man.

now, spiderman should have the scariest look possible, but not necessarily any spider powers evident.  half mask?  yellow spider on chest?
and batman should have some bat powers, such as batsense (sonar based).  flight?  wings or no wings?  probably should have bat ears on the mask.  full mask?  maybe under arm wings, ala falcon?

Ok but... He wouldn't  be Spider bat he would be if Bruce had chosen a Spider instead so no bat influence. At least that's how I understood the scenario.

if bruce wayne chose a spider i could see (since he has no super powers) him coming up with technology mimicing a spiders abilities.exo-suit,multi-visioned,claws,web weapons, poisons, wall crawling.leaping, ect...

now, i disagree.  cause how many bat powers did mainstream bruce wayne have?  none i can think of.  he used the bat imagery to scare and intimidate.

i always thought he did pattern his gadgets around bats.bat shaped throwing weapons, glider cape,see-in-the dark capabilities,....?i even remember an issue where his cowl points had radio recievers and even had sound amplifiers built in.yeah, spiders and bats are scary but youve got to have more than a fear factor going for you.i was just saying with the way he thinks i could imagine what he'd come up with.

hmm.  interesting points.  the spidermobile.  what would that look like?  it seems to me like he created with the end effect in sight first, and the theme secondary.

Definitely. Look here, too:

A hood, with a webbed cape, jeeze, maybe looking a lot like The Web:

Except not green and yellow...

I'm amused by this thread because I'd done a "WhatIf?" version of Bruce Wayne as Spider-Man maybe 2-3 years ago in response to an artistic challenge.  Basically a darker, scarier version of Spider-Man as Bruce would have been.

It wasn't that great an illustration as I am only barely competent as an illustrator as compared to many talented artists here.

I am working on designs more similar to your descriptions. Give a couple days, and i'll have them. :)

Call this a beta version, or a color rough, if you will.

It may need to be darker, and the belt buckle/bat signal needs to be smaller. Gotta find keyframes where he flies with his arms straight out.

There, that's better.

Web shooters for capture nets and swinglines, and maybe a Spider-Bite (Taser). Utility belt to hold extra web fluid cartidges, spider-rangs (very cool, Gremlin), Smoke pellets, burglar tools, and forensics equipment.

[edit] I can see Bruce developing a system that allows him to crawl up walls, too.

I still propose to Bearded to suggest this iidea to Laughing Paradox as a skinning challenge.

Love the original redesigns on these skins Daglob. :)

The thing is, they aren't really redesigns. Both costumes ar pretty much the same, just some colors and elements switched around to match the switched concepts.

It strikes me that Batman and Daredevil might be switched-Blind as a bat Matt Mrudock puts on a bat-suit and grabs a swingline (see The Black Bat), while Bruce Wayne dresses up as The Devil (See Mr. Satan and The Red Demon).
