Title: MA Reviews and Walkthroughs
Post by: BlueBard on April 20, 2009, 07:17:39 PM
Would anyone be interested in doing reviews for MA arcs?  I'm thinking about starting a small group to do cooperative reviews of MA arcs and posting them here (or elsewhere) as a community service.  They wouldn't have to be arcs published by one of us, but we'd focus on arcs recommended by someone here and played through by two or more reviewers (solo or as a team).

One thing I haven't seen yet is reviewing from an AT perspective... Different AT's are going to play arcs differently, obviously.  It would be nice to have that kind of perspective.

I'd like this to be more of an excuse to play and socialize than creating more grindwork, so I'm looking for people who think in-character reviews would be a fun thing to do on an occasional basis.

Nobody else, huh?

Okay, Funeral Pyre let's see what we can do.  When do you usually get on and play?  Which servers do you have characters on?  Do you think we should set up voice chat sessions while running a mish?

I'm running as many arcs as I can for the badgies, obviously. So anytime you see me, feel free to join up. I usually take the time to rate and comment on each arc that I do.

Lies!  I've received no comments from you!!!!

BB, I am usually on during the afternoon on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.  Sometimes, I am on Tuesday and Thursday nights.  I don't have voice chat, so I can't do that.

because I haven't done your arc yet, silly.

I just did TW's and 77's on Tuesday (?) With the whole peanuts gang.

Seems a lot more fun  to do FR's arcs with a lot of Fr's peeps.

Well, the Badgewhores on Freedom are running each others arcs to get...badges.

I have to say some of them are outstanding.

HOWEVER-

4 arcs (not mine) that I'd like to reccomend for play

Ephies  White Clover arc is a very traditional COH story, and involves a very annoying brother. Very fun to play.

77's(?) - zombie arc is just a load of fun.

TW's  Homage to sci fi of the fifties is a hoot,  and really captures the feel of those movies.

last, but certianly not least-

ARH's  Dr. Forrester's sci fi arc deserves to be in the freaking hall of fame. Its @#$#@$#@$ that good.

I'm going to play more of our arcs tonite. I missed out on Birdy's cause my computer went fritz on ARH's last mission. All around I have to say the creativity of us peeps has not dissapointed me in the least.

FYI... The Commando Critic (Scrapper) and The Arc Critic (Blaster) are available on Virtue for testing/rating low-level arcs.  At least until they level higher...

Shoot me a tell @BlueBard if you want either of their services.  Their review of your published arc will appear here on FR.  They will not review unpublished arcs, but will happily provide feedback.

Higher level testers/reviewers available upon request.

I thought I might as well note that I maintain a thread on the CoH forums, here (http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=13455311&page=1&fpart=1&vc=1), where I offer reviews of arcs in exchange for reviews of my own.

In so doing, I have recently played an arc that I enjoyed so much, that I felt it worth recommending to the attention of other FR members.  That arc is Trolls and Tribulations, Arc ID# 181351.  In which heroes investigate some bizarre additional mutations that have been foisted off on Trolls to make them even stronger.  This arc had several laugh-out-loud moments, and showed some real ingenuity with what can be done with the Architect system.  Despite it still needing some polishing, in my opinion, it's still a rollicking good arc.

Another brief plug for a non-FR arc called "Attack of the Paranoid Clones".  It is a very clever twist of the old Paranoia RPG, well worth playing and clicking on enemy info from a distance and reading the NPC text.  There are typos and it's rough on squishies, but it still earned 5 stars from me just for the fun factor.
