Title: Dragonball Evolutions
Post by: Tomato on April 02, 2009, 05:53:52 AM
I've seen the from-japan copy already, but for right now I just want to know who's going to pay to see it so I can eat your faces for possibly supporting the travesty.

I am a huge Dragonball fan. That said, I'd rather take out my [expletive] and hammer it because it looks less painful than what was on the trailor. Every orifice in my body is puckering because it will be so bad. So, how close am I?

Let's put it this way... If you took spider-man, made him an emo martial arts guy, took away his supporting cast and replaced it with a self serving female and a Surfer dude, as well as recasted Green Goblin as a guy with no personality and five lines, you would have DBE.

So far, all I've seen are the ads, and I already want a refund.

I'm no DragonBall fan, but I know enough about the universe to know that this is..well...not.

Now I has a sad  :(

I knew this was coming, but when i caught the preview on TV I didn't realize what i was seeing.  I said to the wife, "oh look a cheezy-super powered-teen action flick how trite, what is this movie called?"  And then at the end they flashed the title and my jaw dropped to china.  Like I said i had read about this coming and heard the fanboy outrage, but nothing could've prepared me for this.  I expect these movies to be bad but this is just atrocious.

This movie will be really bad... but I think it'll be so bad, that it'll be funny. I'll probably go see it just to laugh my butt off at everything awful about it... ten dollars well spent. Best Comedy of the year! (Wait, it wasn't a comedy? You mean they were ACTUALLY trying to make a Dragonball movie?  :banghead:)

FORIAMSPAM!

You know what truly depresses me though? I have a class tomorrow, and there is this one guy, who has been proven to have no taste BTW (he disliked TDK, and felt Heath Ledger was only liked because he died >.>), who will inevitably be gushing over this movie all through class.

He seems like the type of guy who just likes to annoy people when it comes to movies.

I am dissapointed in Stephen Chow and James Marsters since both claim to be fans of the series

Looks awful but I dont really care. I watched the first dragon ball series in spanish and uncensored and it was great, lots of dumb jokes in poor taste. Then the series turned into this awful string of fights that last 10 episodes, so I could care less what they do with the franchise. I'll just watch Dr. Slump reruns instead.

It reminds me of a friend I had, if he recomended a movie you needed to stay away from it. On a survey he listed his favorite actors to be Steven Segal (!) and Alpa Chino (this typo was was 10 years before Tropic Thunder)

Ok, saw this movie today. It wasn't great. But it wasn't horrible either. Well, ok maybe it was bad. It was still better than The Spirit.

That's not saying much.  I've never seen a movie that wasn't better than The Spirit.

a friend of mine "has a copy" >_> I cannot begin to explain the terribleness of this movie, the only redeeming feature was master rohi, without who I might have clawed out my own eyeballs.
unofrtunately, my -not so bright- sister in law is gushing over the film because of the guy playing piccolo

yep, The Spirit had Samuel Lee Jackson and Scarlett Johansson, and DBE has James Marsters. As a huge Buffy/Angel fan, i was hoping he could be the "good reason" to suffer through the movie. But from what i'm reading (no line, lame ending battle) i don't think it's worth it. I'm a fan, not a dedicated zombi. The same goes for DB by the way. It's not because it has the brand/name that the fan will automaticaly pay, even if it works most of the time (transformers, probably gi joe, the first 3 or 4 harry potter film that are unwatchable unless drunk,etc...)

The guy playing Yamcha sounded just like the American dub. That was about the best thing from the movie.

Not really... it would have been one thing if he sounded just like that, but if I recall right his entire character was a caricature of Sabat's performance. Which, FYI, was only handled in that way because Sabat was dealing with a good chunk of the cast and needed stark contrast between each of the characters.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Funimation dub and all... but basing the entirety of a character on something that was already outside Toriyama's intent... to me, that's just another notch against the movie.

Nothing's wrong with Twilight. I mean, if you're a fourteen years old girl.
There's so many things wrong with it that it would take me hours so let's do a short list:
_Propaganda for Abstinence Only (that's a political/religious issu in the US so we won't discuss it here, but as far as i'm concern it's a mattetr of society so we should be able to talk about it)
_Bad writing, wether it is the book or the movie. I'm still pretty ticked that i let myself be convinced to read it ("it's the next harry potter!" yeah right.)
_Riduculous actors (i'm talking about their acting "skill" and their looks)
_Shameless betrayal of what is and should always be a vampire about: SEX. again, i won't spend hours, but vampirism has always been a metaphore for sexual depravity/seduction. And not "oh i want to kiss you but i can't" but attraction of the flesh, lust beyond lust, semi sexual abuse, sousmission and homosexuality. Blood = sex fluid. Try to put that in twilight just for fun.

So yeah if you're a fourteen years old girl with no knowledge of vampires then there's nothing wrong with Twilight.

my significant other's very into twilight, I sure hope she ISNT 14 ?_?
she plays the audiobooks alot, and while I find a lot of it absolute tripe, I do find the parts with the werewolves amusing, but then that's the only parts that arent leaning towards the sex topic, so that may be why, alot of the writing is very predicatble tho, and the humor is very "borrowed"

twilight is simply underworld for sissys

honestly it's the only book i can know of that says attempted defile, stalking and child obsession  is a sign of true love

Good Gravy, Jey... that's a big no to me. :P. Twilight is just... Twilight. I hope the next movie brings in Buffy and her slayers to fight the vamps. In the end, no vamp shall be standing, so no more sequels can be made, meaning no screaming fangirls. Let's make it happen, people!

DBE:

Didn't watch because I enjoy my brain and my only draw to it was James Marsters/Piccolo. Hearing that Piccolo didn't do much cinched the deal to skip the movie.

I just had to throw that joke in there...Bud / Bud lite, True Blood/ True Blood Lite.
