Well, I don't know how much activity this thread is gonna get from me skinning wise, since I have less than zero time anymore for myself to skin it seems. But since I have done some recent skins I figured I start up a new thread for them. I am mostly doing Johnny Patches skopes that need a standard skin. And after doing a couple of them I think I felt something bite me again, but we'll see.
So to start off here is my latest skin I just did:
Thor villain Kurse.
You can probably figure out where this skope came from, yep....Mr. Patches himself. He did a great job putting this togeather I must say. One problem with this skin is that I had no idea what to do with where the ankles and feet come togeather, so I just left it.
He actually wears armor, but I can't skin metal for the life of me and I don't like reflective.tga layers either so I skinned him more grungy with shadows.
And concerning my skinning, I am definatly not a artist and have feeble photshop skills but what I am trying to accomplish is getting some characters out there that arn't "out there" yet, and also getting some skins on Johnny Patches awsome skopes so we can at least have something to play around with until someone with some actual skill skins them.
Older skins that were already posted:

Jack Hammer - old Daredevil villain and new Master of Evil member

Uhhhh....
Wow.
That.
Is.
Amazing.
On a sidenote ... where are JP's skopes generally available? I know you and Laughing Paradox are his two main collabs.
just recently got back into FF glad to see kurse finally got meshed. Great job USAgent & Patches!!!! It seems like skoping has made a lot of really difficult meshes possible. Looking forward to some more obscure marvel characters. One quick question are these for :ff: ?
Great skin, USAgent!
Kurse really looks great.
Great stuff, both of you.

Fantastic work, USAgent! One of your best skins ever, if not the best.
I don't know who Kurse is but I have to download that skin. :D
Thanks Blobula! Johnny's skope made this a easy mesh to skin on. If you saw the mess of a photoshop file I have for him you would wonder how I got him to look like that!
I uploaded him along with the other 2 here: http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/USAgentskins2/
There is one problem with Kurse's skin though, ya see those legs straps on his upper thigh with the circles on them? Well the straps are mirrored on the back of his legs too but the circles arn't centered on the straps like thay are in the front, but since its a mirrored piece it can't be helped.
Good work here USAgent.
Kurse looks Amazing - You & Johnny did a great job on these characters - Hope to see you two team-up more often
great job on these guys
Agent, you make a fantastic Kurse skin and don't release any hero file? Shame on you!!!! :D :D :D
Great work on Kurse ,Ursa Major and the Winter guard member.
I'm not sure if this was intentional, but based on your reference pic, I think Jackhammer is missing some pants.

Its either gonna be hero files or skins, I can't do it all (at least that is what I tell my boss). I should take a note from Podmark and include hero files with any skins I make though, thats a good idea.

Yeah Podmark should start doing that again too.
Here is the old Daredevil/Wolverine villain Bushwacker!
Skope by Johnny Patches!
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v34/USAgent/bushwacker.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v34/USAgent/bushwacker-1.jpg)
Yeah I know, I went a little overboard with the clothing wrinkles, but its the only way I know how to make it look like someone is wearing clothes as opposed to a spandex costume. And as I was looking through all the base skin I have, I saw the old tried and true Gryphon's base skin, and I thought I wanted to use that one just one more time for old times sake, I just gave it a different mouth and eyebrows.
This guy sure liked his blue wardrobe! I tried to make the jacket/pants/shoes a little different blue from each other, and even though the picture of him has a black collar it was actually blue in his comic appearances.
I'll work up a hero file for him before I release him.
Bushwhacker looks really good.
You are going to have to change this thread's name, as theres nothing 2nd rate about that skin.
Your skinning is coming on in leaps and bounds.
Excellent stuff, both you and Mr. Patches.
I totally agree with Tommy.. I can't even skin decent clothes! My characters have to have spandex or be naked. :)
GREAT Bushwacker. I look forward to its release. I'm so glad you're back to skinning, because you and I share a lot of interest in characters that haven't been created yet.
As in the other Femizons that haven't been created.. Water Witch? SNAPDRAGON!!!
i thought he met the characters were second rate? i wish i could buy some jeans that look that good. awesome stuff
Those clothes actually look pretty good. I'm terrible with wrinkles. The zipper's real nice too.
But these skopes man? Dang... Kurse is flippin' sweet.
Your skinning is getting better than ever USAgent. Those clothes are very well done.
I've always wanted to see Bushwacker done. Good job to both of you.
Very nice skins, you´re indeed getting better don´t loose the momentum ;).
 way to good to be 2nd rate.
awesome job!
lol I remember this guy being one of the biggest requests in your 2nd rate villian thread on the older forms. Can't wait to use him.
Thanks everyone, I am surprised how well this skin went over, the wrinkles on the clothes really wern't to tough (hench the overboardness of them) I just started out with the C6 costume base and used the smudge tool and smudged away.
The name of the thread was a reference to the type of characters I want to skin and also a dig on my skinning ability. But I do seem to be learning new tricks from 3 years ago when I last skinned.
He is uploaded here:
http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/USAgentskins2/files/
Its for FFV3R but I did leave the FF1 character.nif in the zip as well, plus I threw in a FFV3R hero file!
LP, we definatly have similar tastes in characters , I am always looking forward to your next character!(except I don't to DC, but love yours), but I don't know how "back" I am, right now I am just helping out by making skins for JP skopes for another project.
I do have a couple more in the works for the project then we'll see what happens, But I do seem to enjoying this again, if there were only 30 hours in a day I could get so much more done!
Great Job I love your skins & the choice of marvel second stringers!! Thanks for also including a FF1 character nif!!!
I'd also like to second snapdragon if you and JP are interested in scoping & skinning her.
USAgent, any plans to skin JP's Hypno Hustler, Seth, Bonebreaker, etc?
I think maybe C6 is doing Seth, so um, no way am I doing him ^_^. But the Hypno Hustler sounds like a good Obscure character for a future skin.
All of these turned out really impressive. Good Job.
Great stuff, USAgent. Now you just need to keep skinning. There are so few of us left. I will find you if you stop......

Thanks Cyber, and Bill! And since I don't want to see Bill make good on his threat:
A couple quick ones I had done:
A couple Earth 712 members, First Lamprey who was a Hyperion villain, Institute of Evil, Squadron Supreme, and Redeamers member. Second is another Earth 712 member Inertia was also a Redeamers and Squadron member. I don't like how the skin turned out for her though, for some reason I really struggled with her costume and getting it to fit on her mesh. The feet seem to be mapped a little different so I couldnt get the black on her feet to look right, one looks ok but the other don't. But since this was based of Tommy's new supergirl mesh the chest area was easier to skin on, thats for sure! (man, that picture sure makes her leg lines look rough, they really arn't that bad though)
Lamprey was skoped by JP, and Inertia was skoped by RMT
I'll upload them as soon as I get a hero file for them set up. I think I am just gonna add them to my Squadron Supreme team hero files.
Awesome, I think Lamprey was the last was needed to complete the set.
Very nice. I'm going to reread SS just because your skins are so good. Thanks for knocking these out.
Nice, Squadron Supreme!
They look good, but could I offer some advice for Inertia? Place highlights over the black sections of her costume, so they don't stick out so much from the rest of her suit. I know how frustrating it can be to line things up on a female_basic mesh, due to the curvature really taking a toll, but you did a really good job lining things up. Lamprey is really nice looking.
Can't say I recognise either, but both came out good. The black bars on the girl look a little flat though. Maybe try adding a lighter tone to the top of the bars?
Thanks once again for the compliments guys, they are very much appreciated

We still dont have Foxfire and Arcanna, but Sioux City Dynamo worked on them but I don't think he released them yet.
I may have to do something with Inertia's Black it seems before I release them, but thats what I get for trying to get it to look too much like my referance pic. I find myself doing that too much, which is trying to copy the comic picture as close as I can when I should be adding my own look to the skins to enhance it.
My biggest hold back in releasing them is trying to get decient hero files for those two, they are tough characters to represent in this game!
Oh yeah, here is my latest skin I did:
Its Skoped by RMT using Tommy's parts. Googleplex's base worked well with him and those darker extras on the mesh show up brighter in game like they should:
Spoiler
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v34/USAgent/caliban2.jpg)
See if anybody can figure out who I was trying to make here. A hint: It is his look before a mean purple dude got ahold of him.
And yes, I definatly did kittbash my own Bushwacker's clothing to work with him. I figure why waste all that time redoing clothing work when a little re-color and blending with do the trick :) (but I could of done better strap work for his legs/feet though.)
Cool Caliban. What's the body you used? I'm probably going to do a Caliban eventually so it could be useful.
That's great. Nice work.
Who couldn't tell that's Caliban?! Nice job on it! I like the bandages on his feet.. looks really good.
And I think most of us resuse skin pieces that we created previously. Why redo a shape that's been carefully outlined before? :D
you're not giving yourself enough credit. caliban looks great.
Awesome Caliban US keep it up .
This is the only incarnation of Caliban that i like - So i have been wanting him for awhile now - Thanks for making this happen
Well I can't let Blobula and LP get ahead of me in skinning these 2nd hand marvel characters! :P
I just finished up Sepulchre (Shadowoman) whom was a Secret Defenders character and most recently a hero who the Thunderbolts tangled with while they were tracking down unregistered heroes during the civil war. She seems to be a pretty powerful darkforce manipulator while handleing the T-bolts pretty good and also holding her own against the Silver Surfer for awhile.
I stuggled with getting the extras to match up good with the costume to make it look like they were actually parts of her gloves and boots but other than that she was rather easy.
Skoped by RMT using Vertex/Ink/Tommyboy parts.
I better take a break and get hero files done for all these so I can get them out there.
any chance any of these upcoming scopes work in :ff: or are they strictly :ffvstr:?
Shadowoman! Well, Sepulchre!
Great job on the skin, USAgent! I like how you did the extras and the hair. Your skinning is really getting better and better.
I have two major points of suggestions.
1. Alpha out the face mask so that you can make the middle part of it see-through.
2. Give this awesome skin some reflection. It should be really subtle.. mostly noticeable only when she moves.
Hit me up if you want more tips on it. I'll be more than happy to help you out, bud. Again, great skin! :D

I am trying to release everything for both, but I can't get Sepulchre to convert to FFV3R, I have very minimal NifSkoping skills and I am having issues with just her, the method I used for getting other skopes to convert (getting rid of the children parts numbered "none") doesnt work with her.

On suggestion #1, I have no idea how to do that, the extras doesnt have a alpha channel and I don't know how to add one. The Mask is from Tommy's Mockingbird mesh and it has eye holes too with isnt quite right with her, but like I said my skoping skills are pretty slim, I have to rely on my meshing/skoping buddies to do all the work for me.
For #2, I thought about that myself for quite a long time too, I am one who personally hates reflective layers on any skin, I think they take away from the skin, but I kept seeing her costume as shiney/leatherish look so I didnt know what to do, here is her skin with 85% grey reflective layer.
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v34/USAgent/ggg.jpg) Better? Worse? Needs to be shiner? (I also noticed that the lines on her thigh were upside down, bright lines are supposed to be on top the darker ones so I fixed that)

Actually I'm pretty sure someone did skin him. But I can't remember who :banghead:
Yeah, Blobula did a great skin of him but he used Beyonder's Doc Ock's tenticles for the skope and that made it unreleasable.
But he did show me another version he did that looks almost as good.......
About Sepulchre, does that skin with the reflection look better or should I leave it with no reflection?
Looking at the reference she should definitely have some reflection.
Reflection? Totally.. different lightmap, though.
Try the lightmap from Renegade's Star Spangled Kid mesh. It's like a wonder lightmap.. really great effect.

Here is a new skin I worked on for RMT, its Moonstone in her Meteorite costume when she first joined up with the Thunderbolts.
I had about 8 Meteorite reference pics for her and in every pic her costume was drasticly different than the next one (sometimes her costume changed multiple times in the same issue!) Her Meteorite costumes went from a basic look to a crazy design but the colors stayed the same. So I tooK the more basic route with her here and this is what I came up with.
Its a Vertex mesh with Ink pieces, and head piece from RMT.
I like the design conglomeration you got going for this skin. It's a good mix of what I've basically seen her in, minus the full gold metal Meteorite costume.
Now I got a few pointers for you.
The gold is supposed to be metal, so work that reflectective layer.. with a better lightmap. The one you're using doesn't really give it an 'Umph!'.
The eyes look too far apart.. maybe make them bigger?
Now I know you're picking choosing from different variations of her custome, but where's the second half of the chin section? ;)
yeah, I definatly don't like the eyes myself, they where the last thing I skinned (at about 1:00am) last night. And I was at the point I just wanted to finish the skin before I went to bed. I seem to always rush the end of the skin just to get it done. I need to go back and do something better with the eyes.
I gave her a small amount of reflection layer on her orange/goldish parts, the only reason I didn't give her more was because of my deep hatred for shiney reflection layers on skins, I think they really take away from a skin,(but Sepulchre turned out perfect). I wish I could create a metal look without having to use a reflection layer at all.
As for the chin section, that is exactly how her mask looks like in her Meteorite appearences, it only covers half her jaw line and around her chin, her other half is actually open.
http://jjinbeat.com/Cap/StarSpangledSite/Moonstone-Meteorite.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v34/USAgent/Download.jpg
Also in order for her head to fit inside her headpiece her head had to be narrowed or else her hair would of clipped through her headpiece. And her costume actually goes up her neck but I couldnt get it to match up with the rest of her costume so I left it bare.
Ill fix up the eyes and and see what else I can do the the lightmap/Refl layer. Thanks for the imput!
You've got a good eye because I've never noticed the missing part of the chin section.
Maybe for the neck, could you add the metal finish? If that doesn't work, what about the red section with the seams?
Don't hate on the shine!! It doesn't have to be bright.. overly shiny.. but the actual finish could make a difference. It could just make it more like metal without the "Oh my god, my eyes are burning" brightness... lightmaps do that for you.
I'm guilty of the 'rush at the end of a skin' thing myself. It's just that kind of "Ugh, finish yourself, damn you" moment.. I get it too. I'm looking forward to seeing the reworked eyes.
I made the eyes bigger and with a different shape and gave her a brighter refl layer. I also used the same lightmap as the one you told me to use for Sepulchre (even though I have no idea what a lightmap does ) Too much reflection now? With this reflection )and even the first pic, you can't see the highlights I did trying to make her orange look like metal.
US(hate the shine)Agent
The eyes are much better.
The eyes do look way better!
I sent you a private message about lightmaps, because it was pretty big and I didn't want to hijack your thread. Keep that reflection, but change the lightmap.. that's not the one used for Sepulchre. Make sure the new lightmap overwrites the one you already have in that Meteorite skin folder.

BWAHAHAHA!!! Now you know why I never skinned that costume! It literally was different in EVERY SINGLE SHOT! I'm convinced it was supposed to be a costume that was constantly changing, moving around.
I do want to point out that at least 3 shots in your collage are actually a different costume entirely. But you've done a decent job handling this look. You need to add the neckline though. And the Meteorite costume wasn't meant to be symmetrical but it did change all the time so you can easily get away with it.

Ug, you aint lying, there actually isnt two pictures of her that are alike with that costume! And I did know that there are some pics in that group of pics that arn't her Meteorite costume (any without the lines in the costume arnt, but I just needed something close to go off of).
And as for her costume not being symmetrical, thats something I remember specificly from her appearances, but that would mean I would actually have to make 2 sides to her costume instead of just copying and pasting the left side to the right, and getting one side of her costume even close was hard enough
I still gotta do something with her neck but which refl layer looks better, the one on the left that uses a grey refl file or the one on the right with a dark orange refl file?

I don't know, maybe I just didn't want my skin thread to drop off the face of oblivion (which it was pretty close to). But I actually made my first skin in over a year.
It was someone who just had to be done........
The Hypno Hustler!
It was a easy quick skin that I just threw togeather for the heck of it since he was so highly in demand ^_^
That was on a Johnny Patches skope which he still has a bunch that need skins for!
Oh no! Not him!
Great job USAgent, a nice clean skin.
That is just plain awesome. One of my favorite obscuro Spidey villains! ^_^
A Hypno-Hustler skin, at last ! :o
Well done, Agent.
Ah, he is good.
...and there goes another one off my list.
USAGENT! Where have you been, man? Where've you bloody been? It's nice to see you around again, and that is quite the nice skin. Query, is that villain even used anymore? Is he still alive? The fans wanna know!
Right on, glad to see you skinning again.
Yes! I've been waiting for someone to skin that mesh. It looks awesome.
kool!! been wanting so long :) nice US
2nd rate character...maybe - 2nd rate skinning...give yourself alot more credit.
Great work on Hypno Hustler, US Agent. I really like that electric guitar. Hope to see more of your work. :)
Very nice, especially the guitar
Ah ha ha ha! Awesome.
I really like how you did the afro.
 Great job usagent!!! Very nice can't wait to get my hands on this skin!!
Would love to see you take on some more of jp's unskinned skopes (harpy & big wheel, hint hint :) ).
USAgent! I'm so glad you skinned the Hypno-Hustler! I really dig the way the afro looks. The guitar looks great, too!
Wow I can't believe this mook went over so well, thanks all for the kind words.

Hey Prev, I pop in once in awhile usually to check the requests to see if I can send someone a character I may have. Then I wanted to look through my skin thread only to see it on page 4 and I think anything after page 5 gets deleted so I just couldn't have that. So what good way to bump my skin thread......make a skin!
The Hustler shows up a a joke once in while here and there, I really don't think he could be used much more than that though.
Hopefully I won't wait until my skin thread is back 4 pages to make another one! I will probably grab another one of JP's skinless skopes for the next one (when time permits). I would like to suggest other skinners to check them out too, I'd hate to see those awsome skopes skinless!
Oh yeah I put him up at my yahoo group:

Here are a couple more JP skinless skopes skinned.
Marvel's Styx and Stone.

Those look great!
Sticks' teeth are great plus awesome job capturing the source material.
Great to see more of JP's skopes getting skinned. Looking good. :D
Nice job Agent. They look like the "real" characters.
Styx needs some eyebrows though. ;)
Sweet! Nice to see more JP skopes being skinned.
I really like how these fellas look, USAgent. The pants for Styx came out really nice. I didn't even notice the lack of eyebrows until Blobula pointed it out! :)
Really good job USAgent. Don't think I'm familiar with them.
Wow..Styx looks sweet!
Very nice work Agent! The face work on these two is great. :)
Thanks again everyone! These 2 are old Spiderman villains from the 80's early 90's. Styx has a corrosive touch and gets a "high" when he uses his power on a human. Stone is the brains of the two even though you wouldn't expect it, also even though he looks like the typical invunerable strong guy he just has peak human strength and gets KOed by Spidey or Venom pretty easy. His power comes from some shoulder mounted weapons that shoot various types of attacks.
The face work is all C6 except for some black teeth and a couple added wrinkles on Styx's forehead, and missing eyebrowes? Naw, he just got them singed off my the Torch right before I skinned him ;) ...yeah I forgot them.
They are available in My 2nd yahoo group.
Remind me again as to why you haven't produced more skins in your time here? Great stuff. I am glad you got to them before I did.
Seriously Bill, If I had any idea that you are going to be skinning any certain characters I would not have any inclination to even attempt them myself ^_^
Wow, dude.
I gotta say, the characters are lame, and Id never in a million years think to request them, but since you did them so good, I mean, look like in the comic good, now I want to get them in my game. Im not joking. Your skinning has made them desirable to me.
Wow Scorpion, thats some pretty flattering things to say there, thanks alot. It really makes me wanna keep skinning these lame-o characters. But they probably wouldn't even look close to what they should look like without JP's skopes.
These are the only type of characters I want to skin though, that is (2nd rate/obscure/never skinned before)
Id request Killer Shrike but C6 inexplicably already did him.
What about Angar the screamer? He was pretty goofy.

Bill's stuff is great, but don't sell yourself short. Your stuff it really good...you're definitely on an even playing field with the big dogs!!
I need all 3 of these skins - Nice work Agent!

I do hope to see more, any thoughts as to what's next?

I am thinking when I do get around to the next skin it will most likely be Johnny P's Hammer and Anvil mesh, it looks they would be simple characters to skin.
