Title: Saturday Morning Watchmen
Post by: Glitch Girl on March 06, 2009, 02:42:03 AM
You can thank Randy for pointing me at this one.  Anyone who grew up with 80's cartoons should appreciate it.

http://losthemisphere.wordpress.com/2009/03/05/saturday-morning-values/ - G'Day's blog entry to it.

It's on NewGrounds and YouTube as well, but the comments got a little coarse in the language department so I'm not directly linking.  Video itself is work safe though.

(they referenced "Turbo Teen"   Turbo Teen of all things! )

That was utterly fantabulous!
I like the hinted reference to Jem even more so than Turbo Teen...

And why is it that Turbo Teen has come up here more in the last few months than in the last 25 years?

The line about Doctor Manhattan turning into a car made me laugh so hard.

The sad thing is that this does seem like the cartoons that were made back in the 80s, and that I would have watched.

If he's seen it, he probably thinks it's genius.  I'm very certain that Dave Gibbons would find it a howl.

You're right.  remember the PR letter atthe end of the book talking about the saturday morning cartoon, and how Bubastis should play a bigger role in the cartoon and toy lines.  hahaha it's like its actually coming true.

That was so very great. I'd actually like to see an episode or two created, it'd be fun.
I like how so much of it hints at the actual story.
