I've just finished my first all-night pre-exam cramming session.
Am I a real college student now, or do I have to get drunk first?
Nah, I received two majors simultaneously without doing either. Of course, I tend to learn quicker than most folks.
Only get drunk if you can do it like a pro. You know . . . get drunk but not too drunk.
You don't really have the college experience until you pull an all-nighter then get drunk after the exam....taking an exam while drunk is no fun (even if you do somehow manage to get the best score you've ever gotten in a 400 level CS logic class).
I commute to school, and barely have to study to do well.
It only begins to explain the apathy..
Nope, I'd say you've made it Grem. Congrats!
I just got off of work (full time ftw) and I have a test at 9 tomorrow, and a class before that at 8. I also haven't adequately studied for it so I'm waking up in about 4 hours. I mean it's only a first discrete structures test, so I guess I don't really deserve any sympathy for it.
I haven't had any alcohol since last year sometime, right around when football season started, and I haven't been at a full drunk level in like 2-3 years, and definitely not since I turned 21. I'm soooo bored of college. It's not fun if you don't make friends or do anything but go to class, and I don't make friends or do anything but go to class. I still have 2 more freakin' years is the worst thing. And I said I'd go this summer, but I'm probably not going to take but maybe one class. I'm so lame.
I'd say you're a real college student when you buy a carton of mr. noodles packets, because, well, it's your food for the month.
studying, drinking? anybody can do that. but who else in the world can feel the desperation of deciding to buy a 12 pack of bud, or a 30 pack of chicken flavored instant noodles?
You are a true college student when you skip your first class. :) That's like week one, really.
Public Service Annoucement: As a college student, please do NOT drink and drive.
Always, pull over, take a swig, and then continue driving. This way, you won't spill any.
(This is doubly important for college kids on limited incomes.)
j/k
Same goes for driving while making out, unless you want to pay a tow truck to lift your dangling car back onto the road after nearly going off a bridge.
*shakes head*
Yeah, I survived on Raman for FAR too long...it's a good thing I married a great cook, because between my abject poverty and my lack of ability in the kitchen, I'd have had a heart attack by now otherwise.

People who learn quickly usually learn the downside of getting drunk and stop doing it on a regular basis.
Only fools think tripping over their feet, tangling their tongues, and projectile vomiting is good entertainment... them, and the spectators that aren't getting puked on, of course.
Well, I wasn't going to say it, but I feel rather the same way myself.
Anything can be done to excess, but lots of people can drink and enjoy the evening without getting sick or making sloppy fools of themselves. It isn't really much of a trick, though many never quite get the knack of it. Some people enjoy a moderate bacchanalia from time to time and some don't. Either way is fine, neither necessarily a sign of a more evolved person.
BTW, Gremlin, I don't think any particular thing defines the college experience. Being in an environment that is intellectually stimulating and social, often surrounded by smart people (even if they don't know much) was probably the most fun I've had (so much so that I tacked several years of grad school onto it). Enjoy it.
What's this college thing everyone keeps talking about?
Congrats Grem, nicely done!

I think you already qualify as one sir. If i might paraphrase a certain (a-hahaha)
très amusant slogan I once read: You don't have to get drunk to be a college student... But it helps!
But It HELPS!!! Do you see what they've done there!? Oh Lord it's a good one! Aaah...
