Hello All,
For months I have been trying to build a mesh in nifskope, and it just is not coming out like I would like. I finally have the design for my character Guardian Angel, the only problem is this design requires a specially designed mesh and key frames. Basically I am trying to create a mesh that has martial artist/acrobatic melee attacks, several thrown weapons and "magic" ranged attacks. That is easy with the key frame transfer tool, however the next piece is very difficult. I want the mesh to have wings, but the wings need to be only visible during take flight, flight, and hover animations. I know that this is a challenge, but I would very appreciative of the person who would be willing to help me out as I endeavor to create this dream mesh. You can respond here or pm me if you are willing to help.
Can you work with Gren's Beetle Mesh?
Good Idea, I hadn't thought of that, the only issue would be slowing down the wing animations.
Update: Scratch That. Great Idea doc, but the Beetle mesh does not have the proper wing nodes.
how about vertex's archangel? or even his old bobby69 mesh?
Thanks for the suggestions detourne, I wish I had the Bobby69 mesh when I was first making Dark Wolf, it would have made things simpler. Perhaps a more experienced or schooled scoper coul help me attach the wings I want to the Beetle _Gren Wings node and postion them. I have built the keyframes using the male_nimble keyframes, and the Male_Basic_Draconus Key Frames and the keys already in the Beetle_Gren, my only problem is the seathing and unseathing of the wings. I am looking in Grenadier's yahoo groups to see if I can find the male_basic_draconus and Beetle_Gren max files, if I do I would have to send them to some one, because I do not have 3dmax nor know how to operate it, but I thing that looking at those file would give me and the us an idea of how to get the wings to work like that, whether it is shrinking or great animation (not arguing it isn't great animation because it is fantastic)
I think the wings disappearing thing is part of the keyframes, isn't it? So if you used keyframes from other things they wouldn't be gone?
Okay, I'm just making that up. It could be a lie, but that's how I thought it worked.
for the record, when things appear to disappear and appear.. they being shrunk to almost nothing and then expanded back to be seen again.
Vertex you beat me to the punch thanks for explaining that.
Also, Unko, thanks to the beauty of the key frame transfer application, any compatible keyframe sets can be combined as long as the mesh has all of the nodes necessary in the meshes for those animations, such as. Gren's Male Draconus and the male_nimble keys (who made those so I can update that read only file) if you skoped a mesh that had the wing and tail nodes with the tonuge and other nodes from the nimble keys both set can work and be modified to make new keyframe sets.
That being said, The male_basic_draconus max file is here. http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/Grenadiermeshes3/files/Max%20Files/ (http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/Grenadiermeshes3/files/Max%20Files/) I wish I had the capability to modify the mesh in 3d max, but if some one could create five new animations (take flight, land from flight, idle, melee_idle, and fly) with the wings being shrunk (going invisible) at idle and melee_idle land_from_flight land from flight and growing and flapping (fly and take flight) I think we could make this work. I know I'm asking a bit but this would be a huge thing for myself, and if it all works we could possibly have a harnessed archangel in works.
Update, After some work I got tommy_boy's wings to work with the Beetle_Gren wing nodes, they move really fast, and wish I could slow it down a bit but the wings appear and disappear and are animated. Anyone know if it is possible to slow down animations?
