Title: Favourite Danger room/Rumble room scenarios
Post by: Shazam on January 10, 2009, 07:42:50 PM
Hi all

On Taskmaster X's old website, he had a variety of Danger room battle scenarios such as:

Thor escaping Hell (Thor vs many demons on the desert map)
Superman vs Doomsday
X-men vs Onslaught
etc etc.

I was wondering what peoples favorites are. I haven't read any comics in years and wondered if there have been many "epic" battles that can be recreated in the Danger room/Rumble room.

One of the scenarios I usually play around with is... "The Fall Of The Mutants Morlock Massacre".

Just use a sewer map, some random X-Men (I usually pick Wolverine, Colossus, Cyclops, and Punk Storm), throw in some Marauders as Villians, and either a Masque (using the darkman mesh) or Callisto character with a Private Army attribute that summon random morlocks to attack all intruders.

how do you set up private army to have random soldiers?

Well, I just set up a Morlock hero file that had it's skin set on Random with various generic morlock-like skins and use the "Random Mutation" attribute on him.. plus with FFX3's newest update giving you 6 open slots for Private Army, I just filled the rest with Sunder, Tarbaby, Ape, Piper, and so forth depending on which Morlocks I wanted to have popping up.

Usually when the Rumble Room starts.. The X-Men spawn on the opposite site of the map and a mess of Morlocks appear around Masque/Callisto with the Marauders staring them down. Within mere moments a blood bath occurs which scatters the Morlocks everywhere and usually having a few left for the X-Men to save.

The majority of my rumble room battle have me picking numerous random street levelish Marvel villains (about 30)that I plug into the EZscript "On Patrol".  I have the encounters set to running into 2 villains at a time and I play until I start running into regular Thugs which tells me I have gone through all the custom villains.   For my controlled characters I usually switch off teams every other battle and use street level heroes from those teams (Avengers, X-teams, New Warriors, random DC heroes)

One other battle that I used to love to play out all the time was the Squadron Supreme vs Imperial Guard in Watch mode.

After I got Goggles Map Pack up and running, I redid the DR Scenario pages and they're available here:
http://www.geocities.com/tmx_dr_scenarios/
You can still get to the pages from my current site, in the Extras Section.
I like the Mutant Massacre idea. One of my favorites is the Secret Wars I Scenario. Just choose any alien-looking map (I chose the Desert Map in the pics) and fill it up with all your favorite villains and heroes from the Secret Wars and watch them go at it. IMO, alot of the big battles are fun to Watch, while the "one vs. many", like Thor escaping Hell scenario, are fun to Play.

I love powerhouses. Hulk versus Abomination, Superman, Doomsday, Thor...lots of heavy hitters, big knockback, thrown objects and the like. Works better in :ff: than :ffvstr:, naturally.

Ultimates Vs Authority: Thor vs Apollo, Iron Man vs Engineer, Captain America vs Midnighter... still The Doctor tends to give the authority a big edge BUT when I cheat and give The Ultimates access to Hulk things even up a bit.

JLA vs Every X-Man I can find: Usually the core 7 vs a ton of X-Men... it almost always ends with Superman as the last man standing but it is always entertaining.

Street level free for all: Batman, Daredevil, Iron Fist, Punisher, Joker, Bullseye... every street level hero and villain thrown into a free for all or a massive heroes vs villains.

I think that the only Comic book fight that I really want to reenact is the big throwdown from DC's "The Golden Age".

Ahh, good thread, and some cool ideas.  I like the Mutant Massacre one.

As for myself, I think the one I do most often is Imperial Guard vs. Someone.  Usually them versus a big X-Men team, but occasionally versus the Avengers or the JLA.  I put them up against the GLC once, and that was pretty cool.  I also love doing "Darkseid Invades" types of battles.  The big DS himself plus his high command, and every Parademon I can fit on the map, along with lots and lots of DC heroes.  Then there are the classics like JLA vs. Avengers and Avengers vs. X-men.  I also have a fascination about villain fights, so I do a lot of knock down drag outs with villain teams or free for alls, like Hawkman villains versus Aqua-rogues.

The one I did the other day was the Marvel comics Breakout event. The event that led to the New Avengers! I put Cap, Spidey, Spiderwoman, Luke Cage, Daredevil, Ironman, Sentry, and sometimes Wolverinein it(Even though he wasn't there) -vs- a slew of Marvel villians. And put in the god() cheat command and watch my heroes tear the villians to shreds!

Fixed.

My favorite as of late has been various "Hulk Vs" scenarios.  I won't even play them myself, let the computer do it.  I'll have Hulk as the villain and have him fight whoever, mostly enemies or other powerhouses like Abomination, Thor, Colossus, Thing, Silver Surfer even Galactus.  Unfortunately, somehow, someway, I've made it so that my Hulk is the most powerful character in the game.   Not only is he invulnerable, but he regenerates health and his Defender Attribute magnifies the power of his strongest attack to easily hit anyone for a 100+ hp loss.  This means he can pretty much defeat everyone.  Though it might take him a few days, leveling the entire city to defeat Thor... that's mad fun to watch.

Also, I can proudly say Galactus beats him within minutes.

Very cool Shogunn!  Galactus should definitely spank the Hulk, although considering how strong your Hulk sounds, I can't imagine how you made your Galactus able to swat him like that.

Oh yeah.  He's pretty strong.  I mistakenly said the Hulk is the strongest in my game.  If I matched him up against Thanos... I don't think he'd be able to beat Thanos, but I don't think Thanos would be able to beat him(unless I controlled him).  But Galactus for sure.  He can take him out in five minutes or less.  It's funny to see my Hulk run through all of the others so easy, but Galactus makes quick work of him.  Actually My Galactus can take any combo out pretty much in short order.  I put the Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer up against him, and my Surfer is pretty darn powerful, but Galactus beats all five in about as much time as it takes him to beat the Hulk.

Another favorite scenario I liked doing, I did it mostly with the Danger Room in the original Freedom Force as I have to find more characters for it.  I used to put all of Superman's enemies in one map and have them go at it battle royal style.  Now that was fun to watch too.  I can't remember who'd win... it was probably Doomsday often.  I purposely left out Darkseid.

something i tried to mix things up and this may sound corney but i cut up about 30 pieces of paper and put various heroes names on them and put in a hat, then cut up about 50 pieces with villians names in another hat.without looking draw out 4 heroes then 4 villians never knowing who your team will consist off and who you'll be fighting.also on some villian pieces i might have them say " fight the wrecking crew or fight the brotherhood of evil mutants." i have a few where you just fight by themselves galactus, terrax, the destroyer or ultron.some might say " fight 20 thugs or 15 aliens.one even has you fight 4 heroes.its actually pretty fun to do.only using marvel characters but going to make some with just dc heroes/villians.

In the Rumble room for  :ffvstr: I like to use the Hulk and battle everything from swarms of raptors and a T-Rex all the way to the entire Freedom Force. Sometimes I pick male civilians and female civilians as enemies and then go on a twisted massacre with one villain such
as Carnage or Sabertooth.

I usually play variations of super groups battle, Legion of Super-Heroes vs Fatal Five or the Servants of Darkness; JLA vs Avengers; Live Action Heroes (Cris Reeve Superman, Lynda Carter Wonder Woman, Adam West Batman, etc) vs Live Action Villains. Sometimes i use one hero vs a lot of enemies (Hulk vs Avengers); Batman vs Joker and an army of thugs; Superman vs Superman Enemies.
Made two fun scenarios with EZscript: Godzilla vs Ultraman (the japanese giant hero, not the DC Villain) and Superboy Prime vs JLA, Titans and others.
The game versatility is amazing, in the same day i can use Captain America and Bucky vs nazis, Legion vs Time Trapper and Krees vs Skrulls.

Ive done it.

I whipped up a Dynaman (standard Superman type with explosive punches) and played as him. My oponents were every golden age hero I could find in my folders. I think I had the Fly and the Shield in there too (eh, why not?) It always ended with Dynaman triumphant. Green Lantern was a pain, though and I always had trouble catching the Flash, but most everyone else got pretty much one-shotted.

XP SP 2 compatibility issue, I believe. Probably fixed in the Steam version.

You know what?  It might be really possible you downloaded a file that downloads another file automatically that prevents you from playing.  I've seen it happen to me before.  I think it was with FFEdit.  I think if you use a particular tab in it, it will create a file in your Freedom Force folder... don't know if this is right or if this is true, but I'd look into it.  I could be wrong though.

Sure, but I can tell you this.  The size of my files that I had in the original Freedom Force are seemingly smaller than the files in FFvTTR.  I cannot make a file under 10k.  I think I remember my Batman in the original FF being around the 20k level and when I did a similar file for him in FFvTTR he came up in the mid 30s.  I thought I made a mistake.

ok,i was going through a box of my comics ive had in storage and was sorting through my avengers comics.anybody remember when the new avengers fought a mutant they called the collective man.he somehow absorbed all the powers/energies from the de-powered mutants either at genosha or around the world.he started from way up in canada and wiped out alpha flight, then spanked the avengers and released all his power in genosha re-powering magneto.i put my zazzax skin on the male_basic_fx, then used the kf transfer to change his walk animation to fly so he's walking in the air.then gave him an array of different mutant powers and attributes then had him first fight alpha flight in a frozen map then the avengers in the city.he beat them all.really fun!
