This version fits my image more, except the second pic, like the superbreath one, is as far as it stretches. :S

i like the second one better.looks really good.idea....make a version yellow  maybe for a sonic type attack or for a shocker cone attack.the color it is now would work also.you are a fx master dude!

Haha, I should have figured that you already had it in the works!  Very nice Prev.  The first one definitely looks prettier, but I'm afraid I don't understand the problem.  Why is the range limited?

prev, ive always been a fan of your fx! skins,meshes,FX,maps,voices,kf's,character tools,ect...they are ALL important parts of this creative collection of minds/imaginations for freedom force.you guys/gals have taken this game way beyond its original boundries.my hat goes off to ALL of you.prev...you keep doing what your doing.great stuff!

Those look fantastic man, I especially like the GL ant and wraith.  I can definitely see using those to spice up my GLs a bit.  You even made Sinestro versions!  Awesome!

I suppose it works. I'm undecided on it. Anyway, it'll be included in the variety pack which now has 42 FX. It also comes premerged with EZFX and my previous X-pack...so...quite a huge selection, no?

You might remember this from my other thread. It was intended to be a "superbreath" cone for superman, but I can't seem to get the color I want (though, gray does seem to be one of the many colors the super breath scheme is depicted in). I've decided to keep it as a smoke screen. I'll see if I can get a mint blue color for a makeshift super breath though.

Would some action lines make it look more comic booky?  I'm thinking almost transparent white/gray/blue lines that run the lenght of the cone?  Just a thought.

Prev, I really like the looks of the claw attack, smoke fx and the shuriken (they seem a bit large, though)...And the trashcan fx is a riot...Love it.

The problem with that is that the tga is uber small and they wouldn't be very noticeable in the first place. I definitely can't use white, grey, or blue as those colors are already present. They'd blend right together and become obscure + there is a gradient map subtly effecting the color. Not to mention that, as I think I pointed out last time, I'm not sure how the cone spawns its effects, so it'd look very odd. For clarification, it relies on particle spawns...those spawns pop up in random batches under most settings. The "smoke" isn't one big effect, it's a bunch of small effects grouped together to provide the visuals above.

To prove this point, here's a mockup with obnoxiously huge black marks running through it. You'll notice how they don't line up because the fx isn't "one" continuous stream.

I like the idea, but if I were to do it, I'd want it to "flow" a lot better than I suspect it would and I don't want to risk "re-burn out" when I'm actually preparing several big releases. DUN DUN DUN!

Thank IPS for the claw attack. The only thing I did was resize the image and replace IPS's other tga for wolverine with the one for sabre. :P. As for the shurikens, that's how it appears naturally in game under "Red Sun". I can edit the size down a bit if need be though...I guess. So hard to be lazy with you bunch.

As for the trashcans...the GLs and his villains needed more variety! Ones that actually react to the environmental lighting. I'd do more but...um...stuff.

Still doubtful on venom. My plans for him fell through. Nothing is sparking for Emma...at all. Jubilee...um...what else is there for her? I see your point.  However, since it appears the black lines are all oriented in one direction, would it be possible to make the front of each effect a lighter shade and the back a darker shade?  Maybe that would give the illusion that the cloud is moving away from the shooter?  I dunno.   :wacko:

I can attempt it, but it's *still* a random spawn. They don't all appear at the same spot and they don't even move along the same directional path. So what you'd get is an effect similar to the pics above. The lighter shade appearing near the back and the darker shade appearing in the front at random times. It's just how IG set up the cone. It wasn't made for detailed effects as, well, dirt and smoke aren't very detailed and noticeable. I suspect I'd need a whole new nif and...we know the track record on that.

Think of it like this. The cone spawns one tga at one spot. It then respawns that same tga 100+ times over at a set time interval close enough together that it looks as if it's one stream of "cloud". In reality, it's a bunch of tgas of a single still image being pushed forward by some type of modifier (Wind).

I did actually test this theory though just to make sure and it was A) not very noticeable until the very end when it became darker and B) the colors mixed. So, no on that idea. :(

No, I actually erased that a while ago. Just wasn't working out like I wanted it to. I might remake it, but...who likes Aquaman anyway? Other than Benton, I mean. Ha! ^^

Out of curisosity, prev, would it be possible to take a cone fx like sonic scream (not sure of name) which has a cone and some extra bits on it and replace the extra bits with the cloud puffs?  It might look like a Dr. Suess creature on it's side if it worked.  Am I way off base here?

Prev, I demand more awesome X-Men fxs so I don't have to even think about doing them myself! Also I really love how you adapted IPS' textures to the new game. I thought about doing this with a lot of older fxs I loved but I'm lazy and I'm just a lowly skinner.

I was messting around with cones last night and have the following observation.
The cold cone might work for super breath, although it won't quite work like the gas cloud your have previewed.  The cone has a cone, a flash, and little snowflakes.  I know perhaps the snowflake texture could be replaced with a gas cloud texture, and the cold cone could be replaced by a wind/whirlwind texture?  I can't recall if the cone itself rotates, but I think it does.  Sure, it would look like superman is doing something strange with his mouth to create such a strange whirlwind, but maybe not.  I'll see if I can explore this further tonight.

Having used that cone several times in the past, it wouldn't fit my vision at all. If you could get something you like from that, go for it. Since IG didn't release much info on cones, it's hard to experiment with them beyond simple cosmetic changes. If you manage to find a breakthrough when others couldn't even within max...then I'd call you a witch! :P

In other news...I think I hit burnout mode again. I was looking at pics of Spider-woman and realized...I don't even know how her venom_blast looks anymore. I recall it being a small ray, but then I saw pics of it being a large beam thing...and then I saw it in MUA as twin beams...blah. Since I'm reincluding Aquaman's unedited telepathic cone, I need at least one more fx to re-even the pack at 44. Oi.

*I would like credit for not making any type of joke about your "superman doing weird things with his mouth" comment. ^^*

I've seen it depicted in several different ways and I think cone cold already works as is...and I'm a bit lazy, ok?! *sobs*. If I weren't in burnout mode and working on sooo many different things, I'd probably play around with it more, but since I'm fixing up a mod, finishing off fx + dat files, and working on other secret projects...I'm avoiding extra work.

Let's just say...sometime soon, I see 44 or so new fx for ffvttr on the horizon that come with a dat file...that's pre-merged with ezfx, ffx, and the x-pack. Let's also say I "might" release some older fx. though, who wants 5 old fx from me? :P

The X-pack was a pack of fx I released a few months ago. It had somewhere around 22 fx in it. The pack I've yet to release (and almost lost today actually...) originated as a sequel to it with some left over fx I didn't include last time. I'm glad some people still enjoy new fx, heh. They don't typically entice players like those new maps and skins do. :P

Anyway, this one is experimental, so I'm looking for some opinions before I go any further with it. I wanted to make a "web bullet" for Spidey, but I realize I won't get the exact thing due to limits within FF/the nifs, however, I am considering going with this:

I think it looks great right now Prev, its looks pretty much like how a web shot looks like.  Size wise, what is it compareable to?  And what kind of end.nif is it gonna have?  I myself would use it as a crushing attack.

could it be possible to reskin the arcane bolt and shrink it a bit?  I always think of web bullets to be more of a clump, with webs trailing off of it.

What you have now is a little too long for my tastes.. it looks more like a web that will wrap around the baddie when it hits.

I'm not very happy with how the colors came out, so I plan on working on them quite a bit more, but I think they're "acceptable". It's a 6 pack because each version of the fx comes with a "strapless" version. Also, know what sucks, spending time putting details and textures on things that don't show up well in game, heh. Oh well.

Could you maybe figure out a way for it to look layered. Ya know, like an arcane bolt does? Or maybe figure out a way to leave trails, also like an arcane bolt sparks, could tiny shards fling off ouf it or something, like strands.

I have some new fx to show off. I noticed Ms. Marvel doesn't really have her own dedicated fx and, considering she "died" and was replaced, I figured I'd honor her.

While you should know this already, I think your fx's are great.

I really dig the Ms. Marvel fx. The one with the swirling energy signature looks especially appealing.

I really like these too Prev, we definatly needed more white FX in the game, I got tired of using the same old fx for blinding blasts and beams, and these will be most helpfull.

Just to break up the repetitive-ness.

These FX will be completely non useful to me.
There was already way too many white glowy things in game.

(sigh) ok... maybe they are kinda cool.

Some really excellent stuff here Prev.  I've already told you that I liked the arcane bolt, but I have to say that Empathy turned out INCREDIBLY well.  That looks very, very awesome.  There is something very Jack Kirby about it.

C6 might be on a skinning high, but so am I... well, a fx high, I suppose. Many of you may remember a version of this fx on FXForce made by adclaw. This version is slightly updated and works as a passive fx, which is the best type of defense for a man named Spidey.

Really, you can pretty much set that up yourself FG.  All you have to do is take the yellow lightning strike FX (it's in EZFX someplace, probably in one of the ones from FF1), and then use a simple sound editing program to sample Captain Marvel's "Shazam" from that episode.  You can put that in the sounds folder with the rest of the FX sounds, (there is a tutorial someplace) and use the Sounds tab in FFEdit to have it play when the lightning power BEGINS.

I don't particularly know what I would do for Wiccan, but I did have Dr. Strange and Zatanna on my "to-do list." Of course, I am entering into burnout mode and I think 50+ is about enough for the release of my next fx pack. :P

Thanks. They'll come out when I finalize the pack, which now ranks in at around 60 fx. This pack + the last 2 packs = just under 130 fx for your FFVTTR needs. Someone needs a retirement.

Prev, this looks like a fantastic FX pack.  :thumbup:

But, I had some trouble with missing and differently-named files. Is it necessary to have installed your previous FX packs for this to work? In the DAT's "NIF Base" field, I saw a couple references to FX folders that didn't appear to be in the archive (e.g. library\fx\generic\cyclops cone) and a couple where the listing in the DAT was a little different than the one in the pack (e.g. library\fx\generic\DPshield_throw perhaps should be library\fx\generic\DP_shield_throw). If it would be of any use, I can PM you a list of the DAT entries that I had trouble with.

NB: The trouble might be on my end. I recently reinstalled the game and I thought I had installed Alex' EZFX and so on, but maybe I missed something.

Yeah, the "M-pack" is pre-merged with the X-pack and V-pack, but those packs each have their own fx.dat for merging purposes. You'd basically be putting folders in the correct place with the earlier packs.

I can't get any of the variety packs to show up when i play FFX.  I was supposed to merge the variety pack .dat files with the fx.dat in the main game menu, not the ffx menu, right?

If you want the fx to show up in FFX, you need to merge the files with FFX's "fx.dat." Remember, FFX is essentially a mod, and mods behave independently from each other.

Just to clarify, PFX installs into the base game like EZFX does. It won't affect mods such as FFX directly.

As for an install order, I suppose the ideal setup would be to install PFX "after" ezfx and ffx since it's pre-merged with those files.

Howdy, sir. I loaded the FX Gold fx & sounds last night, merged dat's, & worked fine. I did so in ffx3Mappack mod. I also loaded in your PFX 1.2 after that. Where does that install the data you so? I showed it going to the FFVTTR directory, but not into a specific place therein. If I want to put your fx into ffx3Mappack mod, do I merge the ffx3 directory's fx.dat w/ the ffx3Mappack dat? I really want to make full use of all your hard work.

As far as my FX pack goes, you don't need to touch anything but the dats. They install into the data/library/art folder meaning any mod can use them without any changes. This goes for the sound effects as well.

explosive type FX only show up when you create a projectile with a radius. Those were some of the last FX I made/packed up, so I'm pretty sure it's installed. ^^

The only FX that shouldn't be installed are the 3 mjolnir variants and, obviously, the 3 bomb variants I just made (and I've only previewed 1).

Cool stuff.. nice to see a fireworks area fx.

The oxygen one definitely looks interesting.. it might work as a direct as well, to simulate a distant suffocation.

Unfortunately, no. I never got around to fixing it up the way I wanted, so it's in a WIP folder somewhere.

None of the new FX are added to PFX. PFX won't be seeing any updates for a long time, if it's relying on me to do anything about it. :P

i think the look far surpassing "promising". with prems backlog of fx work i wouldn't expect anything less than superb
