Hacking Grodd's Neural Arrays

Just started playing free on PC last week. Created Superman-inspired character w/ brawling & gadgets. Got to level 5, have completed Grodd's devolver mission, Superman & Oracle said their piece, but now can't hack Grodd's neural arrays. Defeated Gorilla Lieutenants, as well, & got hack codes, but when I approach an array, don't get the gears symbol w/ HOLD E. I see other web players swooping in & doing it, making the arrays spark & explode, but not me. What might I be missing? Thank you mucho!
