ok i don't understand..... so i downloaded Sharon carter by unko man and it looks fin in the character tool but in the actual game it looks like white and black and messed up
So, that either means you're missing a texture or that the skin is .tga format instead of .dds.
The first game used .tga format for skins, and many skins (most?) are in .tga. Yet, the second game uses .dds, and it will sometimes choke on .tga skins and render them pink or mess them up a bit, especially after long play times.
Fortunately, skins can be converted. You just need a texture convertor. I like XnView:

Someone else might be able to narrow it down for you more.
Make a copy of the "extras.tga" file in the Standard folder, and rename it "extra.tga", and see if that helps.

I really have to say that it would help tremendously if you were able to post screenshots of what you're seeing. Both in-game, as well as the way that you have your files set up.

the skin is messed up, you have to convert the tga.files to dds, there are software around that can do that
