Title: changing skins in animations
Post by: deano_ue on February 17, 2010, 12:09:30 AM
is it possible to do this in a HF, i'm curious, like for an area attack can you switch skins and when the attack is done go back

Unfortunately I don't think it is.
Though the possibilities would be grand...

The closest you could probably come to this is a swap using keyframes that replaces your mesh (using skin #1) with alternate mesh (using skin #2) then back again once the area attack animation is complete.. probably not practical for just a simple thing but would give that effect quite well.

Actually take a look at Renegade's The Ray mesh.  it actually changes skins based on animations.

Another option could be a skope of TJ's Atom mesh.
First you would have to replace the tiny and giant meshes with male_basic ones, then they would have to be remapped to male_basic2 , male_basic3 for example.
It's doable because there are multiple meshes that are grown/shrunk depending on the keyframes, not that the skin actually changes
