That's right, the Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest Results for 2008 have been released.

Below is the winner for Fantasy fiction, which was in the article that initially alerted me to the annoucement. (the overall winner wa a little steamy (figuratively and literally) so I decided to err on the side of caution)

"'Toads of glory, slugs of joy,' sang Groin the dwarf as he trotted jovially down the path before a great dragon ate him because the author knew that this story was a train wreck after he typed the first few words."

The science fiction runner-up should have won.

Lightning flashed from the blue-black sky of this alien world and shattered the engines of the spaceship, destroying Reninger's last chance of escaping and reminding him of the time his sister returned from New York with the tips of her hair dyed blue, except for the part about the lightning and the spaceship.

I didn't think the SF winner's was all that funny or interesting.

She had the kind of body that made a man want to have sex with her.

That made me ROFL.
