I downloaded the CT from fileplanet because freedomfans doesn't seem to be working. I get an error about a dll when I try to run it. Is this a Vista deal or do I need to have the game when I run it?

If it`s for  :ffvstr: you need to have the game.

Yes, it will only work if you have it installed from the disk.  On the occasions where I've reinstalled Windows, I've also had to reinstall FF and FFvTTR to use and install the various tools, for just that reason.

If it's FF, Look at your Freedom Force Folder and place The exe there only the exe cuz it has the dlls needed. ^_^

if it's the ff1 version, then it only needs a few files to run. Same with ffvttr except it also needs dats and other files. Regardless, you don't *need* the game installed if you already have those files extracted and placed somewhere where the tool can find (IE: in the executive folder).

I no longer have Freedom Force. I'm going to try to get 3rdReich soon but I don't have it either.

Oddly enough, I simply moved all of my file over and got all the .dll file required to run the programs and they all work for me without reinstalling (I can't find the second disc).
