Greetings,

I was just forced to upgraded my Win 2000 system to XP SP2 (*grumble* iTunes de-support *grumble*), under which I discovered, FF won't run.

However, when I try to apply Patch 1.3, I receive the following error:

"The patch requires Freedom Force to be Installed. Setup will now exit."

Has anybody else run up against this one &, more importantly, SOLVED IT??

Things which failed to solve the problem:
---------------------------------------
Running the patch from my main FF directory
Running the patch from other than my main FF directory
Running the patch with the FF CD in the drive
Replacing fforce.exe in the main FF dir from the CD
Manually extracting & running install files (bypassing the outer InstallShield)
Reinstalling FF 1.0 from the CD (using the "repair" option)
Re-re-downloading Patch 1.3 from different sites

So, I'm all out of ideas.
Help would be greatly appreciated here!  :banghead:

QuoteReinstalling FF 1.0 from the CD (using the "repair" option)

I have never had any luck with the repair option for any program using installshield.
I would try completely uninstalling and reinstalling from scratch.

Also make sure that you run the upgrade on the default .exe, not any of the nocd executables or anything like that.

GGiant

Reinstall the game and install the patch.
By reinstall I mean uninstall and install again.

GogglesPizanno & GGiant:

That worked!  Thanks to both of you for the immediate replies!

I was a little leery of losing all of my accumulated FF data, but the uninstaller conveniently asks whether or not it should "delete the main FF dir, including all of your custom content."

Now to reinstall EZFX, FFX2, etc..
