Your problem resembles the limitations associated with  NiCLod data in Irrational Games meshes.  The NIFTools often cannot properly interpret that data.  Sorry.

Well, before we try anything else, which mesh are you attempting to open? That might help us determine what you're doing wrong

the male basic character.nif file.
or any other....the only thing i ve imported is the cape file....:-(
my intention is to take a look to one original model and replace it or edit, with a new one done by me....just this... :(

Im not really a 3D guy, so I may be wrong here, but I didn't think the Niftools importer/exporter really support FF character animating. I thought they could mainly be used for static objects.

If you were looking to do character creating and animation, wouldn't it be easier and make more sense to install the original FF exporters from Irrational and then use one of the released MAX files that is already set up with the biped, animations etc...?

My suggestion then would be to download Male_basic_effects and use that. It's the same mesh essentially (Davis added effects to it, but it's the same mesh) and it doesn't have the Niclod

Since Irrational and various others have provided actual Max files, why not just open those rather than import, if all you need is a reference?
Or better yet, why not actually MAKE stuff of your own?
