Aaaaaugh!

Hope everyone has a great evening - too bad it's not a weekend night.

Around these parts they don't allow kids to Trick or Treat during the weekends. They will re-schedule the holiday to fall on a Monday if it does.

Happy Halloween everyone!

Happy Undead Birthday, Mr. Keats!

This Living Hand

This living hand, now warm and capable
Of earnest grasping, would, if it were cold
And in the icy silence of the tomb,
So haunt thy days and chill thy dreaming nights
That thou wouldst wish thine own heart dry of blood
So in my veins red life might stream again,
And thou be conscience-calmed—see here it is—
I hold it towards you.

this is my most favorite holiday... yet I am somehow without any scary-like plans... aside from going to TCBY with a friend.  AAAAHHH!

:pumpkin-smile: HAPPY HALLOWEEN! :pumpkin-bigsmile:

Last weekend I had my big trick or treating event at my parents lake house in Pennsylvania because they actually encourage that holiday there in their closed community. Everyone sits on lawn chairs in their driveway which are totally decorated and even have trucks which pull trailers of hay for those kids who hate walking all the way around the lake (which is quite huge). It's great when you can get 200 or so teenagers and kids in just a 3 hour window during a weekend before the actual holiday.

Tonight was a so-so event at my own home here near DC - I did the same amount of decorating for our house and managed to only get 35 kids to trick or treat. Maybe it's because all of the houses and townhouses around me that have a "No Trick Or Treaters! Go Away!" sign nailed in their front lawn because they don't support the holiday and get mad when they are interupted during their TV shows or something.  :pumpkin-sad: Really, it's happening here more and more each year.

That's interesting CQ, I actually live near Waldorf, just a bit south of DC.

But yeah, I see alot of that too here... I think it might very well be the culture around these parts. My parents have actually stopped opening up the house or trick or treating because the only people who come to this area are 16+ kids who cuss every other word, and this area isn't as anti-halloween as others.

On the upside though, I went up to my church for the "Harvest Festival" event this evening, where they con older kids and old people into manning game booths for massive ammounts of children. The Church Gym was packed with the little buggers, all dressed in their little outfits and conning us out of candy.
