I wouldn't say that I like to cook, but it's better than starving. I always looked at it like chem class: a little of this, a little of that, mix it up over heat and it's either great or it blows up in your face.

So, yeah, given time and opportunity time and opportunity,  I'd participate in the cookbook.

Anyway, I've gotta get back into my kitchen workshop and make a better recipe. Competition's gonna be tough with these guys!

Nay nay, I say! 'Tisn't competition, amigo - just a sharing of our culinary love!

Anything created for the appreciation of others is always competition for the creator, even if he's just competing with his own ego. ;)

If someone has a good alcoholic drink recipe, I'd be interested in hearing it. I don't think excluding alcoholic beverages is necessary. If it's a good recipe, it's a good recipe. We foodies of legal drinking age are still interested. ;)

I would be available to act as copy editor if necessary. I've had stints as copy editor for college newspapers, my own site, &c., and I've got a knack for clarity and flow.

then we add the drink section in.  I think you and I could probably handed most of the copy editing and general layout of the book. Anyone one else who is interested in helping is welcome to step up though.

That would leave a need for artists to do illustrations, photographs of the dishes (if available), and then CONTENT!!

do we want to start a thread in the for submissions in the Forum Projects thread?  Just add stuff here (as we already have a few)

With regards to submissions for , I would suggest making reference to our characters/avatars if possible.  Super powered themed dishes and dishes relating to the themes of our characters if need be.  An example of a theme with my character might be "Mr. Hamrick's Craft Service Table".  Another might be "Night Dragon's Wings . . .  aka the World Smallest Buffalo Wings", Leon's Pony Waffles, Tortuga's Turtle Soup, or the old classic: Minute Man's Shish-Ka-bobs (aka Minute Man's Sticky Things).   Ok, I doubt we could use that last one but you get the idea.

Mr. Hamrick

are we still doing this?  Was I suppose to be organizing it or was Spring Heel Jack

I don't suppose it really matters.  I'll be happy to help with proof reading, formatting, etc.  Oh, and contributing, of course.

I love cooking, and one of my dreams has always been to own my own restaurant, although after working in catering for a bit, I don't think I can really deal with the daily grind (making 80 crepes an hour by hand using 3 pound, wrought-iron, skillets can really take the shine off of cooking). A lot of the time I spend cooking for myself or family and friends, I just try to create vegetarian versions of classic dishes (and finding the oddest things to substitute for the savoury flavour of meat... I never realized walnuts could add so much flavour to soybeans).

The dish with the Jamaican Jerk Sausage looked tasty.

Please post the breakfast showdown after it happens. I really want to see what you all come up with for that one.

UnfluffyBunny

wow i'm late on this thread @_@

I -love- to cook, as some people know I used to be a public house chef, I then moved onto working at asda / walmart because of more hours / pay, but as of about a month ago, I moved into the staff canteen and I LOVE MY JOB!
I dont really get to cook at home, and now I have a "job" where I turn up, and basicly say "right, I need to prepare 2 "good" meals, 1 "junk" meal and 1 vegetarian meal for approx 10-15 portions of each, and I choose what I make (apart from the fact I HAVE to supply chips and baked beans EVERY godd@mn SINGLE MEAL!!  :banghead:)
yesterday was fun, 3 curries (1 vegetarian), steak & onion pie and a junk alternative (fish fingers >_>) and today I went chines with stir fry hoi sin chicken, egg fried rice and stir fry veg (green cabbage, chinese leaf, pok choi, carrots and potatoes in a soy, ginger and chilli sauce)

the hardest part is cooking for the vegetarians BUT i've been trying new vegetarian recipes and the guys at work love me for it
I particularly get requests for my stuffed peppers (god knows why, simple stuff, blanched peppers hollowed out, stuffed with cous cous, diced roast veg, diced fried onion and cheese, and then just roasted) and a mushroom dish that happened by accident (sliced button mushrooms sautee'd and then cooked further in a bolognese sauce, giant mushrooms fried, then grilled, the bolognese sauce and button mushrooms put into a dish, the giant mushrooms placed ontop, chesse layered over the top and then put in the oven for 10 minutes)

so yeah, pretty simple stuff, but they appreciate you taking the time to make stuff from scratch, I'll have to see if I can try any of the stuff from here at work :)

[edit]
oops, almost forgot to mention, agreeing with Mr. Hamrick, recipes puhleeeease? :D

Figure Fan

Mr. Hamrick

I definitely need to the recipes you use for cooking vegetarians.  Everytime I try, they keep getting out of the stew pot and escaping the kitchen.

The Hitman

I've been called a "pretty darn good griller" a couple of times, and, if anyone's interested in a few of my recipies, I'd gladly share.
