max lord isnt really dead

i will not believe that my giffen max was ever evil.  and i figured out what 'really' happened.
remembered in the last giffen story nntjl? beetle and gold went to the start trek mirror universe and found evil versions of everyone.  etrigan obviously used the ice scene to trick everyone and switched the evil max for our max.
so, our good max is stuck in the evil universe.  wonder woman realized he wasn't the real max, and killed him.
right?  right?
i don't have much hope for blue beetle.  unless he becomes the specter.  or someone animates his corpse and he visits himself in heaven.  another example of a good writer retconning, silent bob bringing arrow back.

Wasn't it revealed somewhere he was still a cyborg? I'm almost positive it was. I'm thinking the Omac Project special.
