It's nice when you take chance on a book and it turns out good. It's even better when the book blows your mind away. Enter: The Nightly News by Jonathan Hickman.

The book is about a group of individuals who've been wronged by the media in some form or another and decide to lash back. I'll keep the summary to that for the sake of spoilers. The art, layout, and over all style is just incredibly fresh and different. The book is just packed with information(or misinformation) and little factoids and sidebars making it pretty dense. It's just has an unorthodox style for a graphic novel/comic book. It may turn some people off but I loved it.

I mostly just posting this for those that want to try something different and are looking for recommendations. I'll give you the same advice my LSH owner gave me for the book. "Take a chance, you won't regret it." ^_^

Here's a preview of the first few pages. If it peaks your interest, you have my word, it only gets better. ;)

I'll definitely be looking out for Mr. Hickman's future projects.

Count me among those who were turned off by the graphic style. I found the monochrome ugly, and the factoids and sidebars busy and dense to the point of distraction.

Shame, because the premise is excellent.
