The latest thread about an FF III has really made me think about my ideas for a new Freedom Force game, and I was just curious what y'all saw happening after the end of FF II.  Now, let me be clear, I'm not asking what IDEAS you have about FF III, not that I don't love the imagination of this community, it's just that we've already discussed that and I'd hate to be the guy who dredges up stuff that everyone has already talked about.  Instead, I'm asking, with the whole reveal about Energy X at the end of the game, what do you think would have happened?  Where do you see that going?  Let's play fanboy for a moment, because I'm really not all that sure, except for the possible overtones of The Phoenix.

After seeing the being "Energy X" I thought he seemed kinda cosmic to me so I had visions of the next game/story happening in outerspace with the Dominion being part of the story again (maybe having super powered Dominion members on the team or against the team).  The Freedom Flyer would get modified for space travel to fly to different worlds and the team would either fight against Energy X or they would have to aid "It".
Thats kinda what I thought might of happened.

Lunarman

Well, I think the major enemy of FF3 would probably be the dominion.
When they left at the end of FF1 it was made clear that they planned to return and take over earth at last. So I expect a lot of FF3 would be fighting the dominion. They could probably make it so the Dominion had they're own team of superheroes (a bit like the imperial guard). So, perhaps it could start with FF facing off against these bad guys individually, a bit like the string of unrelated bad guys in FF1, and them not knowing they were all connected. Then after 3-4 bad guys "story arcs" the Dominion would show their face!

There'd probably be about 5 missions against The Dominion. Then Energy X would arrive, saying allying with FF and telling the Dominion how they'd misused the power he chose to grant them. At first the dominion don't believe that Energy X is sentient, they think it's a trick. But he  kills all of the Dominions crack troops forcing the rest of the army to obey. Then Time Master arrives for a show down (obviously) and The Dominion Army, Energy X and FF battle to save their planet and free the universe from Time Masters eternal reign!

Sorry, turned into ideas :P

or maybe energy x would judge the characters to see if theyre worthy of their gifts.if not he'd strip them of their power.

What about an interstellar police force like th Green Lanterns hooking up with FF to fight the Dominion?

Carravaggio

A lot of mods crash and burn, mostly as a result of many people working on one person's vision.
But FF3 is something we could all get on the same page about. We have the scripting tools, we have the assets and we have plenty of ideas.
Why has no one helmed a FF3 mod?

Previsionary

Because the idea process is one thing, but actually putting it together is another thing entirely. Anyone can throw out ideas that we could all eventually agree on, but when the actual work comes into play, how many of those suggesters actually stick around?

Very interesting thoughts guys.  I think you're right about the Dominion, it definitely makes sense for them to be heavily involved, especially considering the circumstances of both games.  I think an Imperial Guard type super team for them would also makes sense.  Hmm...Energy X teaming with FF is an interesting take on his role...but I sort of saw him as more cosmic and neutral.  I am also curious about what would happen with Alchemiss.  Would she come back imbued with the power of Energy X?  A herald for a Galactus like being?  Rescued by FF?  Any number of things are possible, I suppose.

Car, as I've said before, if I had another set of hands, or if I live to be 200, I will probably take on FF III myself.......but I have way too much on my plate already.  That's true of most people on the forums, I imagine.

Gremlin

I definitely see Energy X as a neutral figure, interested in experimentation.  He introduced superpowers into the universe to se what would happen, possibly to see if it was worthy of survival?

style

I always felt that Freedom Force had to do alot with time or different periods in time. If there was a next one I always thought They would put our heroes in the future some how. And there they would meet new heroes some desendants of the present ones. I like Liberty Lad being the leader of the new team. And Sea Urchin growing up to be Fine! And having one of the Dominion Aliens on the team. Still with an attitude and all but super cool! Like a Worf type. I mean we can even have a little story line close to the Phoenix saga/Galactus. How about inculcating this in the story: Minute Man and The Liberty ;) have conflicting ideas on how go about being a hero so they are at odds with each other (Think Civil War Cap and Iron Man) and the two teams are always conflicting(X-Force/X-Men, Mighty Avengers/New Avengers)

UnkoMan

Has anyone ever considered... What if the Dominion knew Energy X was a living being the whole time? Or, at the very least, higher ups are aware. Yet, they mine and harvest his essence just the same. They are slowly draining and killing it, and though it can grant immense powers, it itself is powerless to stop this from happening.

That'd be a nifty twist, I think.

catastrophe

Unko i had just the same idea, that he was an immense battery of energy but powerless in combat and thus the dominion siphon his power without mercy. The image Alchemiss saw may have been an astral projection of Energy X crying for help... :(

The real question is dose it move to modren times with new characters taking up the older characters cape and cowl.

catwhowalksbyhimself

I would imagine that they planned on moving it to modern times the same way real comics have.  The characters simply transition to the new era while it is simply pretended that all of there adventures were only a short time ago.
