DC's DVD projects panel at WonderCon (Saturday, March 3rd, 2007) was composed of DC Comics' Dan Didio, Bruce Timm & Gregory Noveck. Most of the news and discussion was about the Superman: Doomsday  animated film.

The release date of Superman: Doomday has been moved up to September 18th, 2007. The movie presently clocks in at about 72 minutes. It is the first animated Superman project to receive a PG-13 rating. The announced cast includes:

Adam Baldwin as Superman/Clark Kent
Anne Heche as Lois Lane
James Marsters as Lex Luthor.

Also, this is what I have right now about casting for Justice League: New Frontier:

Phil Morris as King Faraday
Neil Patrick Harris as Barry Allen/The Flash
Lucy Lawless as Wonder Woman (unconfirmed)
Carl Lumbly as The Martian Manhunter (rumored and particularly questionable)

According to Rob Allstetter's Comics Continuum, the latest casting additions are:

-David Boreanez as Hal Jordan/Green Lantern
-Brooke Shields as Carol Ferris

They would be joining Neil Patrick Harris as Barry Allen/The Flash; Phil Morris as King Faraday; and Lucy Lawless (rumored) as Wonder Woman.

Fellow poster jadedknyght has put up that Kyle MacLachlan ("Twin Peaks"; "Dune" (1984)) has been voice-cast as Clark Kent/Superman for DC: The New Frontier. I'm going to try to confirm that now.

UPDATE: the info seems to be good. It comes from Rob Allstetter's Comics Continuum, which is pretty reliable.

How is it I haven't heard about this League movie before?  Hmm.......I really don't understand what they have against using the DCAU voice actors for these things.  The fellow who voiced Lex Luthor IS Lex Luthor as far as I'm concerned.  Also, while Adam Baldwin was excellent as Jayne....I'm not so sure he'd be good as Supes.  However, with Bruce Timm in charge of the Superman movie, I'm sure it will be stellar.  What do we know about the guys in charge of the league movie, and any idea about the sytle it'll be?

Glitch Girl

I think Justice League: New Frontier is considered non Animated-universe cannon, which is why they're going with a different voice cast (plus I think a different art style) to further emphasise this distinction.

As for Superman: Doomsday... there have been 3 projects that have been kept in secret for a while.  All that was released was that they were 1) animated projects, 2)by Timm and team, 3) going direct to video.  New Frontier leaked early, Doomsday seems to be number 2, and number 3 has yet to be annouced as far as I know.  All I know is that is has GOT to be better than that last Superman direct-to-dvd movie.

I believe the 3rd was New Teen Titans written by Marv Wolfman who promised during one of his con panel appearances that he would bring the Titans into the Timmverse but far closer to their comic versions.

Oh that's right, I did hear about that one.

From Newsarama.
Quote"We are thrilled to be releasing the first of the DC Universe movies that feature extraordinary talent including Adam Baldwin and Anne Heche, as well as the lauded producer/writer team of Bruce Timm and Duane Capizzi," said Dorinda Marticorena, WHV Vice President, Kids and Sports Marketing. "With an authentic animation look and feel and a more emotional as well as action-packed storyline, Superman Doomsday will certainly appeal to adult comic book fans and older kids."

Unfortunately, the same guy who wrote Braniac Attacks is writing Superman: Doomsday.  Hopefully Bruce Timm's influence will save it.

Talavar

Well, I guess they've changed voice actors because none of these DTV movies are going to be in-continuity with Batman TAS, Superman TAS, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited and Batman Beyond.  Which is too bad, in my opinion.

BentonGrey

It just doesn't matter, those guys are simply excellent with those voices, and they have recognition among fans...I just don't see the logic in changing them.  It's like not using Kevin Conroy in that mediocre Justice League game.

BentonGrey

Hmm......I....I'm really not sure what to make of this.  I love Timm's work.......I love the LOOK of this....but the story isn't a great one.  Plus, the REALLY should have stuck with the animated voice cast.  Still...I have faith.

RTTingle

Eh, I'll skip it all but the New Frontier DVD...

... I'm a big fan of the whole New Frontier thing.

Glitch Girl

It'll probably air on CN, so you can get a preview of it before you shell out the cash at least.  Saved me from wasting my money on that horrible Braniac fiasco.

UnkoMan

I, too, really enjoyed New Frontier. I will definately be looking for that. Death of Superman? I didn't care about it when it happened, and I care even less now. Plus I can never get behind supermullet.

BentonGrey

LOL, yeah but you're missing the bigger picture here, Unko.  First, it's Timm and Co., and they haven't steered us wrong yet....well...except for the fourth season of B:TAS... *shudder*  Anyroad, if these do well, maybe we'll see more....and I am quietly praying to see an Aquaman feature...
