We missed this while FR was down... but apparently Michael Turner, artist of Fathom and Witchblade, has died of cancer. He was 37.

You can read his old bio on Wizard.com.

I'm not really the "thoughts and prayers" type... so I'll stick with my standard "Man, this sucks." :(

*sigh*

FYI there was a thread on the boards about this before the black out.

Yep. I posted it Saturday, but it was lost when the board went down.

Apparently Turner was the best man at my cousin's wedding a few years ago. I didn't realize it the time, as I left the reception fairly early, but I found out later when my cousin told me that his BM was a comicbook artist and wondered if I'd ever heard of him.

Ah well. Another comicbook guy struck down too early. Between this, Wieringo, Gerber, and that colorist a couple of months back, the past year has been especially scary. You just never know...

Well he had been battling cancer for years. I mean it had to be rough on him to deal with it and still produce art for both DC and Marvel as well as creatively driving Fanthom. Even though I wasn't a huge fan I did think his work brought me back to the years of my childhood when everyone drew like Jim Lee.

Mr. Turner, you will be missed.

Damn.  :( I knew he had been sick for a while, but it was still too soon.

RIP Mr. Turner.

I mostly posted my feelings on another forum but you can all guess what it is, that the dude was way too young to have this happen to him.
