I know some folks may not empathize with this, but I had a feelgood moment I just wanted to share.

My AFBL character on Infinity has, in the last week or so, gotten two recipe drops for draconic wings.

Now, I don't normally play on Infinity... and neither do most of you.  And I can't put them on my AFBL character.  (Against League regs.)  I put one of them up for sale at Wentworths (still there far as I know), but the second one... I dunno, it just felt like a waste to sell it.  I pinged the FR & NRF channel, but nobody on at the time needed them.  Can't give them directly to anyone on Freedom without going through WW, and then they might not get them anyway due to the anonymous bidding process.

So, I offered it gratis to the first person who could find me in Faultline within 15 minutes.  Gave a hint.  ("Look past the reflection").

A guy with the handle of Jack Penndragon found me and got the recipe.  He was very appreciative, and it felt good to give them away to someone who could use them.  I know most of my characters can't afford to buy any recipes, especially costume recipes selling for over a mil.

And while I'm here, I'd like to say thanks to those FR folks who've shown me generosity in the past.  You guys rock.

'Tis a shame CoH (not CoV, if we hope to stay in character) does not allow charity à la Matan Beseiser (anonymous giving in the Jewish tradition, discussed by Moshe ben Maimon), unless you count enhancement pools in the SG/VG bases.  Good man, BlueBard, for your kindness to others!  :thumbup:

If I participate in the reductively-named Secret Santa festivities this year, I think I'd rather keep my identity a secret as a gift-giver.

Well, I'm not tooting my horn.  If I could have used it or shifted it to another character that could have used it, I would have kept it.  That toon already sold a rare recipe for more inf than he'll ever use.

(Figures I'd get all the good drops on a server I never play on, on a character that only exists to play the AFBL league PvP.)

But I would encourage anyone... if you get something in CoH you don't need and you don't have a bud who can use it, give it away to someone who can.  Wentworth prices are obscene and a lot of players 20 and under simply cannot afford to buy most things there, unless they belong to a wealthy SG or have high-level friends.

The sheer number of 'junk' drops leaves you with only three options: Sell it, Delete it, or Give it Away.  Selling is okay, but visiting the store/WW over and over just to unload gets kind of old and doesn't give any warm fuzzies.
