char tool has null pointer error on new .nif files

I just downloaded some of the great new meshes and skins (many thanks to detourne_me), but most of them won't open in the FF char tool, even though they are not labeled as FFvtTR meshes.  ie: vx wonder woman and vx black canary...null pointer error  :banghead:

Any1 have a clue?
