- = These are skins being withheld from release due to forthcoming updates, mostly skope based. However these will take time to complete and I will consider release requests for the old versions in the interim.

* = These are standard skins I've done for different meshes. With two exceptions they will not be put up on Hero Force. The exceptions are Surge and possibly Stinger. If looking for these meshes please post in requests. Also the readme files for older skins may include incorrect links for meshes and keyframes, please direct those posts to requests where I or another poster will help you out.

There may be errors in the list, and these will be corrected as they are brought to my attention.

So by now you should all know that Afghan Ant, The Ultimate Evil and myself have all returned from seeming retirement to form the new Hero Force website! My apologies for the deception, we felt it would be useful in creating more excitement about the site. ideally the site release would have been closer to the retirements but it took longer to prepare than expected.

Huge thanks to TUE for bringing the idea to us and for making those Dark Knight-esque teasers, and to AA for the super cool website, and of course to Cat for the web space. Yay Cat!

So the new stuff:

New:
Riptide
Exodus (2 pack)
Northstar

skope updates:
Elixir (New Mutants squad)
Mercury
Hellion (Hellions squad)
Hellion (New X-Men)
Elixir (New X-Men)

Expect more releases from me after the new year as I continue to get my skins library uploaded and do new stuff.

oh, I need to know if anyone is having any problems with my Hellion skope. I've had someone report a problem with it and I need to know if anyone else is.

Yep ... I can't get the sucker to work.  :(

I'm using FFvTTR and I've tried running the nifconverter over it.

When you told me a few days ago to look out for a few things I wasn't expecting all this. This is too cool!

Any problems with any of the other new stuff? Is it both Hellions or just the one. And what about Elixir. I might not get a chance to test it before I leave for the holidays.

btw all my skopes are for FFvTTR exclusively. A while back I made a decision to switch largely based on the problem with converting skopes (which is now solved I believe).

Hmm, I'll look into this, but like I said I'm leaving soon so it might be a few weeks before I can solve the problem. It's based on the same skope as Elixir so it's weird that it's not working.

I just ran the Hellion skope on machine in the danger room and it worked fine, so I repacked it and uploaded it to the site. Please let me know if the problem persists.

I've never skinned any of them myself but I have Ink's Hornet. I wouldn't mind skinning the others but I've got lots of things on my list ahead of them.

Pod, in the readme for Kid Devil you say to use Ips' nightcrawler keyframes, but for the life of me I can't get them to work.  Any suggestions I might try?

ooooh, interesting. What mesh is that, sir? It's interesting because it looks teenaged, but I dont think he represents that image anymore, but that's neither here nor there. I, personally, think that the symbol on his chest could be more defined and slightly redder, but other than that, prev likes.

That's great Pod! You really captured that soulless un-emotional look on his face. The colors look spot on as well. The only critique I can offer is too put a bit of that brighter green on to the feet. Nice work man!

first off, the Vision is, as always, nice work.

but what i really wanted to say was holy cow, dude! you have done a TON of skins.

i certainly knew that, but it's hard to always get the feel for how many until you see a list.

whoa!

Yeah it is teenaged, but that is how the current Vision looks. I'm going to double check more reference pics but I think the diamond isn't actually a solid red. It seemed to a pink or colour closer to his face. I'll check though.

It's a combination of Beyonder's male_teen, Syn's Quasar, a collar found in Tommy's Red tornado and the head gem and ear covers are from other Tommy parts.

I haven't checked yet but I believe it only accepts the Quasar keyframes.

Hadn't noticed the feet until now but your right they are pretty dark looking.

Yeah that's kinda why I put the list on my first post. Plus that way if anyone is looking for a certain skin they can check quickly if I've done it.

Yeah, he did looked teenaged, but I'm pretty sure I saw him in a recent book (mighty avengers? Somewhere) and he looked nearly adult. I don't know where he stands anymore in general. :P

Well the kids are hard to follow after Civil War, but when his Young Avengers Presents issue comes out I'm sure he'll look teenaged again.

I wonder if anyone can guess what this one is...

Trauma from Avengers: The Initiative.

I recently got and finished the first trade of the this book and something about Trauma just really captured me. I think it was his face, there's something in his face that is just cool.

This is probably the last new skin til at least next week.

At first I thought a Batman Begins skin cause that's what Ra's asks Wayne after he kicks the crap out of him in their first meeting. But I'm wrong. Anyways, the skin looks good, perhaps some strands of slightly brighter highlights in the hair to give it more contrast. Other that, you're solid.

I'm a huge fan of Trauma as well. I was kind of hoping he'd end up as a cast member for New X-Men before it was canceled and changed into Young X-Men.

Yeah I think I'll be playing with this skin a little more. The hair looks like a blob right now. I've gone with red highlights because that's what the book used, but I have a blue highlight version too that was better defined.

The nice thing is that once he's done it allows for fairly easy skinning of MVP and Hardball.

I'm really liking all your "teen" stuff, Pod ... it all looks great in-game, especially when mixing it up with "adult" meshes.

Glad you're working on Intiative characters, too!

Yeah ever since AA did his Wiccan and Speed skins I knew I had to start using these teen bases. It can make a huge difference with a character looking right.

Also some good news the Vision skope takes any male_cape based keyframes. So I'm using Gren's Vision keys.

A bit of a random one today

Thought he'd be pretty easy and I had thought of some good skoping ideas.

MVP and his clones' identity the Scarlet Spiders.
MVP has become another of my favorite characters in this book. The Scarlet Spiders twist was just excellent. Probably was pretty predictable too but I never put enough thought into it.
I'll probably do KIA eventually.

I tend toward newer characters and costumes for the most part. The Initiative characters have been on my list for a while. You'll see some more in the future. Komodo was actually one of the ones I wanted to skin the most but I haven't figured out the best way to skope her yet.

Yeah I'll be doing the whole team, whole school eventually I hope. To this end I have enlisted an ally to help.

Most of the skopes for the main team are done or close to, the male uniform is skinned, but I still have to do the female version. Anole gave me a ton of trouble for various reasons but his skope is finished now. Pixie on the other hand is a completely different story. I need to find the proper hair and find a way to pull off the soul dagger. Suggestions are appreciated.

Great job on Rockslide but Pixie's hair why not use two Rogue's curly ponytails from the Carey skope and turn them on their side so they appear like they were going upward. Or possibly use Ink's Tempest hair plus pieces from Scarlet Witch's hair for curliness.

skope and skin updates to Elixir:

I badly had to do this because I lost all my gold based Elixir psds in my crash way back. Luckily I still had the black version for the second uniform. Skopes include a new hair piece that was inspired by AA's work. These will be up shortly.

For my next trick I'm going to try and pull off the mobile darkness version.

An update and a new skin:

I seem to be in an update mood lately. First I did Elixir and today I have Prodigy. On the right is a new skin of his bullet proof vest look he sported against Nimrod and a few odd appearances.

No preview of the new uniform this time, but it is in the work. I'm still playing with it though, the hair is giving me some difficulties.

Prodigy and Elixir will be sometime this week.

I'm going to be keeping to the design in the comic, as accuracy has always been my number one priority. However I will probably do a little alterations to make it look a little less flat.

Wow been a while. I finished school and have returned home and was busy for a while and got away from skinning. So I'm starting to get back into it again. The Prodigy and Elixir skins shown above should be released soon as I started some tweaks tonight.

Anyway here's a preview:
Decibel (aka Chamber) from the current New Warriors.

I did these two before my break. Comments and suggestions are welcome.
Here's some reference art for comparison http://www.comicvine.com/decibel/29-2244/earth-616-decibel/108-11211/

But I have one specific question to ask: should Jono be on a teen sized mesh? He currently is, but the character has to be at least 18 and more likely is 20-21 at this point.

I agree with Syn on all points. I'd use male_basic or something similar he got to be at least 22 (last time I checked Jubilee was roughly 21 and she was the youngest GenXer). Fantastic work on skinning him though.

'yupe, dunno the age, but in day M jubes looks older than 21, so a i think male_basic could be the perfect verison.

Did you tryed changing actual skirt to AA_x3_phoenix....

are you going to do this version: http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/1/18265/376632-33308-decibel_super.jpg

I think it could be easier.

Ok then Jono will be switched to a new mesh. To be honest I was never really sure why I started the skin on a teen sized mesh. I think maybe I was getting too used to it.

There's a few tweaks I'm already thinking about, and I did start a skope for his second New Warriors costume. He's my favorite New Warrior too, but wow my opinion of that book has just been plummeting.

Any skope suggestions are welcome.

Elixir and Prodigy have been released on funtastic new all-in-one skopes! Elixir includes the new uniform skin. My skinning time is too erratic lately for me to wait til the whole team is done. You'll have to wait for Prodigy's team uniform though, it's not done yet.

Despite my best attempts I couldn't update the front page without breaking the formatting, so hopefully AA can take care of that at some point.

Thanks. And looks like I've got some goodies to download from you too :D

So does anyone know who my fav DC (other than Batman) is?
Kyle Rayner in his most recent costume.

I picked up the Sinestro Corps trades last week and felt like skinning something from it. Not sure if anyone has skinned this costume yet, Murs probably has, but there's always room for more.
I kinda like this costume. Not as good as his Jim Lee costume, but a nice merger of it and his original. Nice to see him back as a GL again.
No update for Decibel at the moment. I need to fix up the new skope and update it, might be a while til I get to it.

Decided to do an update to one of my older skins tonight.

Bolt was skinned during a period when I skinned alot of characters but grew unhappy with shortly afterwards. Bolt in particular I really wanted to update and I'm much happier with the new version.

Excellent work Pod on both of these skins. Only one critique on Bolt.....the area below the the abs....the darker purple just cuts of the flow of abs....I know that the torso cut of at one point and the waist and legs start at another...but they need to blend. ;) Kyle is my 4th favorite DC character...even with this new "god awful" uniform. :P I don't like it what can I say...however you did a superb job skinning it.

Looks way nicer now. I like the varying purple tones for the highlights. His chin might need a drop, unless it's just because he's zoomed out. And I agree about just below the abs. Simple fix.

Will you be further updating?

This character? Or other old skins?
Answers: No, and eventually.

I love updating my old skins, particularly to take advantage of Nifskope, so you'll be seeing more of that in time. Right now I'm finally fixing up the Decibel skins shown earlier. Preview should be up in a bit.

I'm really digging the way you did both of the Jono skins but that skirt is bothering me. It's too wide or something.

Also nice improvement on Bolt. I use to like the New Warriors lineup he belonged too.

I'm open to suggestions on the skirt. I can't resize it without losing the movement track with the legs, which means it will become static. And it's probably too long to leave static.

One thing to keep in mind is that the skirt and sleeves look too dark, but thats just the parts, they should look fine in game.

Gloves are from Tommyboy's Superboy Prime, and yes they have the x-symbol on them :) you can see a bit of it if you look closely. The boots are from another Tommyboy mesh, I think it's Mach 2 but I'd have to check.

The red is an slight undertone of the yellow. Someone said a red hue works well for the shadows in reds and I tend to agree as long as it's not too much.

So it's been a while, back in school so it took me a while to find the right combination of time and motivation to get some skins finished.

So I give you X-Factor's Jamie Madrox the Multiple Man and Layla Miller the girl who knows stuff:

Add a few extras Madrox for good measure:

Around the time of Messiah Complex I realized that I love Madrox and Layla.
Layla took forever to finish. Had to do a lot of base work, which isn't exactly my forte. Worked on it on and off for the last 2 months. Madrox has been done for a while, but I wanted to show them together.

Comments/suggestions welcome.

Can you re-paint madrox x-force arms to brown, 'cause when you put the jacket it seems still green?

Are you gonna use an all-in-one skope¿

I never really saw Jamie as infatuated. Seemed more on Layla's side, and probably simply because she knows the future. Either way I suspect when Layla gets back from the future she'll be a bit older.

Oh I should note that there's an alternate 'M' tattoo Layla skin just like Jamie.

Right now I didn't colour the arms brown, but I could. I'm not totally convinced it's worth it. Sure there's a little clipping here and there, but to fix it I'd have to add another tga to the skope.

Yeah Madrox will be released as an all-In-One.

Also a little bonus for tonight. Kinda a celebration of me doing some skinning again:

That Layla one looks great. I would have never expected to see her in the game.

My only suggestion would be to add the groin area on some of the Madrox skins.

I'm so happy to se Layla and Madrox completed.

A few things though I would probably paint his arms the same color as his coat so the green shirt doesn't stick out. And Layla skirt reminds me of a coffee filter. Also thought she had a plaid skirt? Adding a plaid texture could really help with the multiple pleat look of the skinning.

Ok I'll paint the arms then.

Interesting point about the skirt. In her earlier appearances her skirt was plaid, but under Raimondi (who is my favorite artist on X-Factor) it's been blue. I guess I could do an alt version. I'll change the coffee filter issue too.

I'm very proud of Madrox's face, spent a lot of time on it and I think it's my best along with Traumas. Layla's face is a little more generic, but I'm still not a skilled with female face editing.

Awesome work as usual Pod. My only suggestion maybe shrink Layla's eyes a little bit? Looks a little like an anime character, but that could be because I'm not used to seeing many child meshes. X-Factor has got to be one of the most consistently entertaining books out there. Now your going to force me to turn blob shadows on so I can get the clone attribute to work without floating mesh pieces all over the place...

Madrox was never on Excalibur...

For the record the skins are modern X-Factor Madrox (4 skins - coat and eye variations), 90s X-Factor Madrox (wearing the costume he wore when I first read the book, a remake of one of my early skins), and X-Corps Madrox (another remake).

Going to work on those suggestions, then do something new. Likely targets are either Crusader or Anole.

Personally, when my shirt is untucked it goes further and covers my belt entirely. A way around this? The half tucked shirt. You see belt detail but still get that casual feel.

Also, gotta say I'm really liking the hair on Madrox and Trauma. Especially Trauma. In fact... where's that from? I might need to steal it.

The hair on Trauma is from Tommy's World War Hulk and Ink's Nightcrawler. Feel free to grab it right off the skope if need be as it's pretty heavily resized.

Whoops!  My bad.   Oh too right, Podmark!  It's X-Factor not X-Caliber!  It was back in the 90's when the line up was Havok, Polaris, Strong Guy, Wolfsbane, and Madrox (whose name I think was Multiple Man at the time).  I have no idea what the roll call of that group was after like...oh....1996.  Any how, sorry for the confusion with the UK team.     :P

I have to do touch ups so it might not be til next week time allowing. Also I should note that rather than going straight to touchups I've started a new skin. Layla took alot out of me, needed to do something fresh for a bit.

any chance we'll see more 90's xfactor? or men in suits? (stark, Osborn etc?)

edit: and maybe a blind lawyer (got an idea for a skope all of a sudden)

I just released The Man with the Golden Gun in a suit. I'm working on a couple of men from U.N.C.L.E., both of whom will be in suits (although Illya was somewhat more casula than Napoleon). Now, I wonder if I should do me some James Bonds...

No it's not Xavin.

Or Hulkling.

Or Jazinda.

Or Lyja
(http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y246/podmark/CrusaderPrev.jpg)
It's the Crusader from Avengers: The Initiative

I have no idea but I've grown to love the Crusader since his introduction in A:TI, I hope he survives Secret Invasion. I'm not even sure what it is about him I like. Name and costume are lame, he's a skrull which wouldn't be neat without SI, I do like the Freedom Ring and the continuity the character carries, the scar's kinda cool but it's gone now. Well whatever I've throughly enjoyed the character and have been meaning to skin him for months.

Comments/suggestions welcome
Next I'll finish touchups on the Madrox's, and get them uploaded. After that we'll see.

Yes!

I was really hoping someone would skin him. One of my favorites in the Initiative series since SI began. You did a bang up job here Pod. Especially love the details in the Skrull face.

Question: A few issues back they explained his origin with Freedom Ring and all, but is there a mini-series or something? I'd really like to find out more about this character.

Freedom Ring and Crusader both debuted in the last arc of Robert Kirkman's Marvel Team-Up. I've never read it though.

Looks good Pod, but I'd consider shrinking the thigh cuffs a little bit if at all possible. not a lot, maybe .2 or .3 in nifskope. They look a little large.

It could just be my monitor, but the skin looks a bit orange. It's probably my monitor. Something that I don't think is my monitor is that you appear to have forgotten to add the light lines on the feet? I'd actually probably reverse the seams, considering light direction of everything else.

I really like the skrull head on this fella. Great detail. Nice colour choice. Ears look rad. Very good job.

Yeah I can do that. Might change the thigh piece if I can find something I like better.

The human face has been modified too, but it's less noticeable.

Um...I think(hope) it's just your monitor. Anyone else noticing some orange??

The reason the light seams are missing on the feet is that the feet are mirrored. I'd get a triple line instead of a double, so I made a judgement call and keep the dark line over the light.

the brown on Crusader's skin is orangish and a dark brown. Essentially his highlight look darker than his overall skin.

Ah right, duh. I knew that too, since I've done a seam down the middle of the foot before. Sheesh, I feel dopish.

But yeah, the human skin just seems a tad orange in the midtones. I wouldn't say the highlights are darker per say, it's just a bit off is all.

I've seen my preview pic on 3 different monitors and I'm not really seeing any orange, I should note that people have on rare occasions told me I don't see colours quite right. I'll try adjusting the colour though, see if I can get rid of it.

Had another look at it to see if it was orange...and yeah I think the skin tone looks like an orange brown vs a red brown or chocolate brown, but brown skin is hard to nail down. I'd look at putting a light layer of a more chocolate brown (with the layer set to colour) over the face and adjusting opacity accordingly.
And I echo AA's comments about the skrull face, it looks incredible :) great deep shadows and bright highlights, its good stuff.

The only Warpath skin I have is one wearing the Jim Lee blue and gold uniform done by me and Matrix.

I will be skinning the current X-Force version of Warpath but that might be a while from now.

I was trying to go for a lighter brown. Crusader's skin colour is wildly inconsistent.  He's been coloured as white, lighter than the Gauntlet, and a regular african american colour. Honestly I'm not sure what ethnicity Z'Reg is supposed to be masquerading as, I doubt even he knows lol.

I'll play with the brown, see if I can get rid of this orangeyness. Might have a preview up later. A very cool preview....

Title: Re: Pod's skins: Crusader updates (Nov 10/08)

lol Actually my Morph skins were done ages ago! For one reason or another they never got released. I need to do some skope work on the Morph mesh to release them now. They were created before it was done. No ETA on these right now.

Never played the Exiles mod, but I can guess which skin/mesh it was.

In regards to my above previewed skins, Crusader is done, I have one more fix to do on Madroxs (brown arms) and just need to make the alternate plaid skirt for Layla. Trauma I might be playing with a bit though so not sure when he'll be done. Time/motivation has been a little low lately but I'm making continuous small progress.

I've got a couple ideas fighting in my head to be skinned next. Maybe I should do some kind of poll like TUE. Get some fan input.

The poll is up:
http://freedomreborn.net/archive/index.php?topic=48675.new#new
Kinda cool, I don't think I've ever made a poll before

Ok so with the poll you can help decide which group of skins I shall work on next. I make no guarantees the winning choice will get completely done. The realities of my available time and how my motivation to skin works just means I can't make that commitment, but hopefully it will work out well.

These are all things that I have been considering skinning but I want you input in what you'd like to see first.

Timing of this is ideal since I only have one more week in my current semester, so more time should be available to me for skinning.

So please VOTE!
Title: Re: Pod's skins: Skinning Poll! (Nov 26/08)
Post by: Podmark on November 29, 2008, 11:44:54 AM
In his thread Megatallica was asking about my never released Morph skins and what i skoped onto them, so I've decided to show him, but I didn't want to do that in his thread - that's the place for his skins not mine.

Names at the bottom refer to the artist who drew Morph in that costume. His costume seemed to change literally everytime the artist changed. I meant to do a McKone version as well but never got to it.

The skins were originally done and previewed on the Tom versaitile mesh, but once I found out Syn was making a Morph mesh I had to switch them over. For whatever reason I never got around to skinning the extras, and the skopes might need some refinements. If I were to release them I'd need to update the skins.

So there ya go Megatallica. The actual parts shown might be resized and moved a bit, and I would probably try to skope on something for that collar on the second skin. They might also need belt buckles.

---------

The poll closes tomorrow night at midnight EST.

One piece of good news is that when I get to X-23 I'll probably have to do the New X-Men uniform. Once I finally have the female uniform done I can knock out Mercury, Armor, and Pixie pretty easily.
