Title: prev's fx 2.0: let's burn it up...
Post by: Previsionary on February 18, 2007, 09:16:18 AM
K, I was bored and I suddenly felt like fxing *blames vertex and UE*, so I did a request i saw on FR before the boards went down...then I realized that i didnt like how most of the spidey related fx looked in ffvttr, so I did more...then i stopped when i couldn't do more of what i wanted. So, here's the fruits of my labor:

Web shield that's needs a little more work:
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/th_picture011.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/picture011.jpg)

close-shot of the web cone:

web cone far shot:

my take on the request (this is the fantasy version...there's a regular, non particle version included in the zip):

Yahoo!!!! Previsionary is FX'ing again, those are so cool.
I like that Web Cone, it looks like an energy pattern.
Well done.

yeah thats cool, spidey never got  alot of love FX wise for such a popular character, and FX have been generally neglected in FF2. love the webcone especially. Now we can texture up some unobtrusive nif to act as a standin for a webbed up crim.

Excellent Prem!
need more spidey goodness!

i tried to alpha The_Blob mesh to use a a crytallize swap,  but it didn't really like it,  or appear as i would have wanted...  maybe if there was a plain hollow cylinder nif,  that could be alpha'ed it would work great for a crystallize swap to go along with your fx pack.

So where can we get our grubby mitts on them?

thanks for all the comments guys. It's nice to know that people still have a spot in their hearts for new fx, heh.

I don't have them uploaded anywhere yet because I plan to update them a bit more and probably release it alongside the promy fx. I might send it to syn to host or just upload it to frp with my other stuff.

Title: Re: prev's fx 2.0: Amazing spider-man release
Post by: Previsionary on March 14, 2007, 07:00:51 PM
Well, I didn't get a chance to update the files anymore, but I'd rather release them as is than let them sit around. So if you want them, get it here (http://pro52.msshost.com/~unfluffy/v3/tobeupdated/Spidey%20pack.rar)

Note: Please don't mess with any other files uploaded to this space, ty. Click here (http://freedomreborn.net/archive/index.php?topic=41648.0) for the reason why.

Ok, I recently made a blink herofile and once again, being me, I decided to update her fx a bit. I definetly believed that her javelin deserved to be better represented than it was (AKA: javelin on an alpha plane), so I did a quick mesh. Anyway, here it is.

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/th_picture012-1.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/picture012-1.jpg)

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/th_picture013-1.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/picture013-1.jpg)

And she can't be complete without an ffvttr updated teleport:

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/th_picture001-1.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/picture001-1.jpg)

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/th_picture020-1.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/picture020-1.jpg)

I'm not really feeling the text, but I think it adds character/uniqueness. Anyway, you guys tell me what you think and maybe suggest some fonts while you're at it?

Title: Re: prev's fx 2.0: *Blink*
Post by: Carravaggio on March 19, 2007, 03:48:14 AM
that teleport is beautiful, man. is the text based off her cover logo/title or something? i'd suggest any sort of futuristic font, like 'interplanetary crap' or 'too late'. something sleek and thin, not a heavy, bulky text.

i don't know if you realise it, but you are tapping into a hugely neglected part of FFVSTTR, the FX.

while there are a bunch on nice FX put together by some swell folks, and some of us can transfer FX from the first game to the second, there are a bunch of character powers that are unique, and as such require unique FX. a guy like you who can make even simple things (yes, like a 3d mesh for a javelin) can help alleviate this drought considerably.
i guess what i'm saying we love your FX, and look forward to any others you feel like making, cos they are sorely needed.

Wow! That's some really nice looking FX there. As for a different font, why don't you try the "Badaboom" one over at Blambot (http://www.blambot.com/fonts.shtml)?

Great work, I would use the text from the AOA comics.

Title: Re: prev's fx 2.0: *Blink*
Post by: Previsionary on March 20, 2007, 08:55:35 PM
wow, quite a bit of replies. Those were some nice font suggestions and I did replace the fancy text with "Badaboom", but since IPS will allow me to use his tga, I may change it to his version (which i did use for inspiration to begin with. :P). Since someone asked in pm, the javelin fx is pretty much ff1 compatible, I believe, minus the end.nif and the teleport fx would have to be reworked to use the old nifs in FF1, but I'll do it sometime this week.

Anyway, new fx. Since i noticed that people were downloading the ultcap_shield and getting problems, I decided to slightly update it again and I mean slightly in the most literal sense:

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/th_picture017-1.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/picture017-1.jpg)

Behold, cap's shield is now also 3d. Though, I believe Ren already did this and I couldn't find it...but 2 couldn't hurt, right? The rest of the fx is pretty much unchanged (shield_throw fx) and the shield skin, for now, is from a c6 skin.

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/th_picture018-1.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/picture018-1.jpg)
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/th_picture016-1.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/picture016-1.jpg)
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/th_picture009-1.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/picture009-1.jpg)
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/th_picture015-1.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/picture015-1.jpg)

I will probably try to update it more later, but let me know your thoughts. Also, if you have any possible fx suggestions let me know. I'm back in fx mode and having a list couldn't hurt. Just nothing too complex that might explode my brain. :P

what about a 'double' beam, like iron-man's twin repulsor blasts? there are a few nifty two handed ranged animations that it would suit nicely.

Post by: Previsionary on March 22, 2007, 08:46:44 PM
Nope, the current nif doesnt have a glow (even though i thought about adding it after rereading exiles 91 and exiles 92) because i don't really know how to go about adding it right now. I may add it later since i kept the max file in a folder somewhere.

Cara, i'll see if I can do an ironman fx (though he's one of my least favorite characters...since before CW) if i can find some good ref pics.
Title: Re: prev's fx 2.0: *klank* goes the shield
Post by: Carravaggio on March 22, 2007, 09:22:58 PM
hey cool, i look forward to whatever you can muster up,. but i just used iron man for reference, cos the FX that was similar used to e called 'repulsar rays' in FF1. its just two hand based blasts/beams spaced an appropriate distance apart to they look like they are shooting from one hand each. any sort of blast would do, its really just two normal beam attacks side by side to show that the character is shooting a beam from each hand at the same time.
truth is i don't like iron man much either, i'd be using it for custom characters.
im sure i'll think of others later which you can ignore at your leisure if you so choose ;)

If you are still looking for ideas how about some of the animal forms vixen takes on.  The idea Im talking about is from justice league unlimited, when she takes on the abilities of an animal you see the outline of the animal around her for a moment and then she takes on the properties of that animal.  I can't find any reference photos, and I don't know if this could be done but it would look cool.

I'll see if i can make anything. It mostly depends on reference pictures and how creative I can get with it.

Anyway, today i decided to attempt some new stuff in max today and ultimately failed at it, "I will figure out how to make a cone! Darn you IG and your somewhat confusing setup!", and decided to make a new captain America fx. You can pretty much thank MUA for this:

Back in the early Silver Age, Cap's shield was controlled by magnets (or something like that) so it would bounce all over the place.  Later, he gained the ability to ricochet that shield all over the place.  So, to make a long post shorter, that fx is very appropriate.
Title: Re: prev's fx 2.0: the spinning shield!

I'm glad you guys are liking the fxes. Death, all of the fx should be available either from frp or F-A sometime this or next week. Cara, bad news, I couldnt get what I wanted to work in FFVTTR for the double beams, so i took a break from it. You see, I wanted to make a nif that allowed each individual beam to be customizable/reskinnable as well having the ability to be animated. I may just have to stick with the plane method the ff1 version used. :(

Quiet, i remember that being requested before. Did you request it last time as well? I'll see what I can do.

Anyway, here's the latest fx I made on a whim. I present you with, as Rick named it, the meteor fx:

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/FXS/th_beam008.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/FXS/beam008.jpg)

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/FXS/th_beam010.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/FXS/beam010.jpg)

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/FXS/th_beam011.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/FXS/beam011.jpg)

Fun fact: the stream of fire behind the asteroid/meteor does have some basic animation going on.

Also, the end nif wont resemble that when it is released. I just don't like the way it came out, heh.

nope I didn't request the vixen fx before, but I was the one that requested the spidey web fx that you did. thanks for that btw.  I tried doing fx before and got lost along the way, so I don't know if the vixen fx could work or not.  I don't want to turn this into a request thread but if you are looking for suggestions, devilray/blackmanta  from bentongrey's dc mod could use a small trident projectile fx that you could probably use the awesome "spudbullet" fx as a base for. thanks again for the spidey fx.

I may shrink it down later...but I don't know how small Blank Manta's trident is...so yeah. You may be better off skoping it yourself. Anyway, I'm on a small hiatus for the mome, but when I get done with all my busy work, I'll try my hand at the following:

Quote
Ironman's double beam (read: repulsor ray)
Paste pot Pete...or trickster fx
Possibly Vixen (depending on if I can find what I'm looking for)
Possibly Havok (because he needs some ffvttr love)
and maybe finish the ff1 version of the blink fx....once i reinstall the game.

They were just dart sized, something around the length of a batarang would be a good measure.  I'm in no hurry, if you have time to do it when you get back, that'll be great, but if you don't care too, I'll probably just make do with something else.  I'm afraid I don't need to add another project to my pile. ^_^  It's still a great FX, and I think 'ol Arthur will get some use out of it!

Ok, since I took a very long hiatus, I'm trying to get back into fxing and finish the fx I put on hold...which were quite a few. The thing that got my most immediate attention was the trident pack. It went from a tri-pack to a septuplet pack. Here's some pics:

Mini trident (which i hope works for Black manta...calling Benton to the scene)
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/th_trident.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/trident.jpg)

Aqua (WIP)

Artic(WIP)
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/th_trident005.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/trident005.jpg)

Poison
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/th_trident004.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/trident004.jpg)

fire
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/th_trident003.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/trident003.jpg)

Normal/Silver
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/th_trident002.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/trident002.jpg)

The lightning WIP trident isn't pictured because I forgot about it. Anyway, the WIP ones will hopefully be more...um...visibly different. I was fooled into thinking they were more visibly different when i previewed the nifs in nifviewer. Oh well.

[edit]

Here's the updated elemental based tridents + the lightning trident. Lemme know your thoughts.

small post: You guys can pick up the trident pack and the old "shield surround" from here:

shield (http://www.frpmods.com/files/prem/FX/shield%20surround.rar)

and

septuplet trident pack (http://www.frpmods.com/files/prem/FX/trident%20septuplet%20pack.rar)

the shield is greatly outdated and uses c6's awesome tga. Expect for the fx to be updated whenever I get around to it (probably when i start modding again). I'll also try to release the shield projectile soonish.

I wasn't gonna post this here until I finished up more, but early feedback is always good.

Quote from:  prevIn other news, I have 20 or so fx in the works...the majority are xmen related. You may thank crimson and XND for this. Here's a few WIPs that I don't particularly care for:

Leaf uprising:

-This is a test I did in 3ds max and it uses a simple path constraint. After a bit more testing, I hope to have cone/beam animation down...or I'll give up...AGAIN.

Cyclops Cone

-Nothing fancy and I don't really like it. This is for crimson really.

Cyke beam

-simple updated beam. I'm mixed on this one

Bishop Blast

-this is based off of XND. The blue shouldn't be there, but it kinda looks nice.

Bishop Energy Bullet

-The color's off on this and it needs a little size editing. This, too, is based on Bishop's attacks in XND

Million card explosion

-Gambit needs more fx and this is kinda based off of XND and XML1 and 2. I can only do so much with this one, but I kinda like it.

Bastion Pound

-Ironically, I did this before he was revived. Anyway, based on XND with a little creative input on my part.

Kinetic Card Explosion

-alternate version of the million card explosion. Again, I can only do so much with that nif.

Leaf storm video:

-I suppose it'd be good for poison ivy or w/e. What'd she used it for? Dunno. :P

There's quite a few fx I forgot to post here, but fx don't seem to matter to you guys anymore since ya got your shiny skopes. *grumbles* :P

Quote from: prev
Crosspost:

Ok, time for the next batch that are basically done:

Jean Mini bolt:
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/th_FXtest020-1.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/FXtest020-1.jpg)

- Nothing special and it has a pink hitspang ending. Very similar to the cyclops optic shot except I wanted it bigger. No such luck.

[Magneto/Storm] Electric Bolt
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/th_FXtest019-1.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/FXtest019-1.jpg)
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/th_FXtest018.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/FXtest018.jpg)

- Updated electric bolt. This isnt really based on XND, but I recall seeing something like this in XML1 or 2.

Phoenix Inferno
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/th_FXtest016.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/FXtest016.jpg)
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/th_FXtest014-1.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/FXtest014-1.jpg)
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/th_FXtest013-1.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/FXtest013-1.jpg)

- Direct attack and a slightly larger version of an fx I grabbed from FFVTTR. It looks nothing like the XND version, but that'd require a new nif or for me to play around with the ff1 direct fire attack on fxforce. This looks better.

Gambit card
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/th_FXtest010-1.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/FXtest010-1.jpg)
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/th_FXtest009-1.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/FXtest009-1.jpg)

- Black jack's card made to fit gambit. It has another version that ends in an explosion, but I didn't take a picture.

Optic Shot/Bullet
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/th_FXtest008-1.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/FXtest008-1.jpg)
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/th_FXtest006-1.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/FXtest006-1.jpg)
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/th_FXtest005.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/FXtest005.jpg)

- Finally a new optic bullet that doesn't look like all the other versions. I really like the way it came out minus the start nif.

Havok Explosion
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/th_FXtest003-1.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/FXtest003-1.jpg)

-Based on XND but not as big or as pretty. I plan to change the sparks a bit.

So there you go...a few more fx. Up next: Glue beam (if I can finally fix the particle system), Psychic burst, Sentinel charge, and phoenix fireballs. We'll see if any of those come out like I planned.

I forgot I hadn't posted this here so:

Gambit card explosion

-this is the alternate ending for the gambit card. Not the ending I wanted, but it works.

Jean Mini bolt (upgrade)

-the bolt is bigger and I added the ending. Nothing special.

Glue beam

- I don't really like this fx or the nif, but someone requested it a long time ago and I finally finished it up. I want to say Carravagio or Xenolith requested it for Trapster.

Havok Explosion

-minor update though I'm still toying with it.

Havok Explosion and Phoenix Inferno look great.

Of all the powers you could create an fx for, you decide to do a glue beam.

I love it!
Title: Re: prev's fx 2.0: Bunch of WIPs
Post by: Previsionary on February 25, 2008, 10:47:22 AM
No worries, IPS. I was gonna look for it later and pm you back (I didn't forget), but I kinda put it on the backburner until I had time to actively search for it.

Sir murs, the glue beam nearly killed me with how much trouble it actually took to produce a simple effect and I realized that there was nothing, that I could think of, to really simulate the stickiness of the glue ending wise so I had to just use what I had. It wouldn't have even crossed my mind if Xenolith didn't request it...kinda like the double pulse beam for Ironman wouldn't have crossed my mind if carra didn't mention it (which I'm periodically working on when I need to release stress). I could have forgotten both of these existed if I didn't keep a fx list and folder on my desktop... ^_^

'Twas me that requested the glue beam, and thank you very much for creating it.  Now the Trapster can really...stick it to 'em...(he didn't say that, did he?)  mwua-ha-ha

I'd also like to say thanks for the glue beam. I've been looking for a proper effect for Trapster and Zemo since FF1!
Title: Re: prev's fx 2.0: Bunch of WIPs
Post by: Previsionary on February 29, 2008, 11:24:32 PM
Thanks for the replies, peeps. HT, I still don't think my gluebeam is all that proper until I find an ending worthy of glue, but it's a step.

Anyway, some more:

Jean's Psychic Burst
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/th_FXtest014.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/FXtest014.jpg)
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/th_FXtest012.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/FXtest012.jpg)
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/th_FXtest011.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/FXtest011.jpg)
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/th_FXtest010.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/FXtest010.jpg)

- I have to shrink it a bit, but it'll do. I was just tired of the invisible bolt/default fx for Jean, so she got a new simple mental *head* bolt to use.

Sentinal Charge/Ion ball (2 versions)
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/th_FXtest009.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/FXtest009.jpg)
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/th_FXtest008.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/FXtest008.jpg)
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/th_FXtest007.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/FXtest007.jpg)
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/th_FXtest005.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/FXtest005.jpg)

- One version has the lightning poking out of it, the other has lightning revolving around it. It's a nice alternative to the beams, gases, cables, etc. that sentinels are usually shown using.

So with these 3, I can tell you that I have exactly 3 or 4 more fx to do before I go on another long hiatus. That may be expanded thanks to IPS and his gracious donation of some tgas, so I hope I can put them to use and release a giant xmen fx pack totaling around 20+ individual fx (some fx have alternate versions mind you). Some of you may be thinking, "but Prev, there's nothing for us DC users," well...um...that's true. All those came earlier. A certain person named Benton already burned through that quota. :P Anyway, feed back is always welcomed.

Sidenote: Again, if people have some suggestions for fx they want to see, don't go crazy, then post them as I regularly browse for ideas (interest system is always in effect). Just know that I work in bursts and that the fx you request may be done at some random interval...I like to surprise people. :P

hey prev

great looking fx. the lightning ball looks amazing. are you using 3R nifs? i'm hoping so, so that they will emit light like the other 3r nifs... and they won't have timing issues etc. anyhow they look really hot.

hope u can use the tgas... sorry i couldn't provide nifs. i can't boot my pc up at all - so that means no nifs. i'm lucky i found copies of the textures on my mac!

lookin forward to the new fx. =)

Yessir, I am using ffvttr nifs exclusively at the moment as they look much better than the ff1 counterparts. I did find a use for 2 of your wolverine related tgas and I'll test it some time this week. Your psylocke tga will be a little tougher. There's a few direct attacks I can use it for that don't particularly fit Psylocke at all, but I don't think I can pull off a projectile without grabbing a ff1 nif. :S

Minor update today. This next fx (which I plan to do a few alternate takes on when I have time) was made mostly available to you by the great IPS. Go and thank him.

3-claw snikt:

the red droplets represent blood. I noticed while I was testing that the "snikt" doesnt show up with this nif, so I have a few alternatives set up.

yepperoni with cheese. Most of it is coming out of his back though. I'll probably do a side swipe as well just to have that angle covered for certain animations. Double post.

I haven't worked on the fx pack because I've been too busy, low on interest for anything FF related, and other stuff. Mostly though, the people I asked to test the fx to be sure they worked or had everything included never got back with me, so I assume they too lost interest or were too busy, heh. Anyway, thanks to herodad, I have 19 to release right now. Who knows when the other 6 or so will show up, but this might hold you over for a bit, heh.

Cyclops 3 pack (http://www.mediafire.com/?6yz2uyl50el)
Gambit 4 pack (http://www.mediafire.com/?t23nu2mkxxz)
Bishop 2 pack (http://www.mediafire.com/?xdk9jmjgz1n)- for the beam, i suggest using core2.nif if you don't want a straight purple attack.
Havok 2 pack (http://www.mediafire.com/?ghtgtrbxmwu)- not my favorite, but it'll do.
sentinel 2 pack (http://www.mediafire.com/?2xjboaidcc1)
Glue 2 pack (http://www.mediafire.com/?cuhmyf4wmsa)
Jean 2 pack (http://www.mediafire.com/?mrjzxnwyynx)
Direct 2 pack (http://www.mediafire.com/?glj12cxdzs3) - Inferno can also be used as an area attack for characters such as Phoenix.

EDIT:

If you're really patient, the big pack may include a "fresh" .dat with everything installed in the default directory.

fresh meaning FFVTTR + EZFX only.

Bastion Pound (http://www.mediafire.com/?wetfm0mxpzc)

Electric arc (http://www.mediafire.com/?niz61xmz1bo)

X-men pack- 1.6 MB (http://www.mediafire.com/?jc2mkz7lfjn)

It's safe to assume "no", heh. Storm, while she may be high on my fave x-men list, isn't a character I can do much with in the fx department. Besides the two fx I made for her 2 or so years back, everything else has been done for her and none of the games I played inspired me to do anything else for her. She's really a character that's covered fairly well even by the built-in fx.

No worries. It's been awhile since I've made a completely new texture, so that was fun in an annoying way,

Here's some other X-stuff I've yet to upload:

Phoenix Inferno:

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/th_flame.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/flame.jpg)

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/th_phoenixstram.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/phoenixstram.jpg)

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/th_flashy.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/flashy.jpg)

Not all her firebirds need to end in explosions! Also, the pic above shows 2-4 birds at once. Considering XND influenced most these new fx...a spread shot would be most approp.

Iceman icicle:

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/th_ice.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/ice.jpg)

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/th_icicle.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/icicle.jpg)

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/th_small.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/small.jpg)

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/th_end-1.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/end-1.jpg)

Figured I could get one more use out of the javelin and this is it. Also, an update, I lost the last few X-fx I was working on, so I guess I'll look into restarting them one day. I still plan on using the last of IPS's awesome tgas...just gotta find time...and nifs I like.

K, here's a better pic of the "phoenix_inferno" fx.

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/th_close.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/close.jpg)

As you can probably see, it's smaller than spud's various phoenix fx as I likened it to XND's fx...but it also seems to be forming while in flight and I find that cool. Any thoughts?

MMMkay, no responses. maybe this will do! Since AA released a new psylocke skin, how about a few random fx to go with it? Consider these fx the "X-men Pack 2"...or "Direct attack- the pack". Yes, I did include some random extras since I have the tgas to do so...sue me...not really!

Great idea for the tornado.  Can that also be used as a beam (since ffx doesn't like direct that much)?

Nope, sorry, bud. Beams are set up in a pretty specific way and I haven't fully cracked it yet.

Anyway, no pics, but I did some tedious recoloring of my GL packs and put together this nine pack for Sinestro. I was gonna add more, but recolors are so mind-numbingly tedious that I had to quit. ^^

Sinestro 9 pack- 214 KB (http://www.mediafire.com/?wwfdtymi9rt)

I didn't test any of these, so if anyone runs into a problem or something, post here to let me know. It comes with the following:

3 passive shields
2 areas
2 bolts
1 beam
1 cone
2 readmes.

Enjoy.

Sidenote, as I forgot to re-mention it here, the psylocke fx make use of IPS's awesome butterfly texture. Finally found some nifs I at least tolerated. ^^. ALSO, this recolor pack was partially inspired by, I think, AA as he was asking about it a few months ago.

Doubt it. It's hard-coded into the nif by Spudster. It seems to form differently depending on how many birds are released at once...at least from my short tests.

Anyway, I don't recall ever seeing many Lorna based fx, so I added it to my X-pack (which now sits at a comfortable 18 finished, 4 or so to go).

What's a girl without a (magnetic) shield?

That's it. There's one pic missing and that's a melee which is just a recolored manowar fx. I forgot all about the beam, so I MIGHT add that in.

Looking at my list, I might add in Emma if I can think of something for her since I don't associate her with fx except the mental suggestion ones from ff1...but her powers are far beyond that point now. Um, I really wanted to do a teleport for Psylocke, but I haven't seen a good nif yet. I guess I'll finish out by using the remaining three textures by IPS and go pack on hiatus. ^_^

I don't think I do enough DC stuff...so to remedy that...I made a batman pack. I use "made" lightly as I didn't open photoshop at all and I kind of just packaged these together. You can thank Ren (mesher), C6 (skinner), IG (other meshers/skinners) for these updates. The ff1 variants are nice and all, but the new nifs look better, play with the lighting, and um...are shinier.

Sample opening + Corrosive batarang:

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/th_batarangs003.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/batarangs003.jpg)

Shockarang:

electric_batarang:

smokescreen_batarang:

explosive_batarang:

arctic batarang:

flasharang:

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/th_batarangs015.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/batarangs015.jpg)

gasarang:

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/th_batarangs017.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/batarangs017.jpg)

sonicarang:

variety's the spice of life no? And you can grab the pack here: I'm Batman (http://www.mediafire.com/?vbyzjdmjjtt). As a sidenote, most of the fx are "explosive projectiles", but two are regular, straightforward projectiles. As another sidenote, I included Ren's double pack of batarangs (+ readme) in the texture folder, so if you want a different batarang, you can easily switch them out with no issues.

*I hope this fx high ends soon...*

Bah! I do! This "highness" randomly happens with anything I have interest in...then it suddenly drops and I go on long hiatuses. The cycle must continue or the world will explode! ^^

I only have one today and I feel myself wearing down. Finally.

Updated Nightcrawler Teleport (Making use of the last few IPS tgas I have left):

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/th_teleport008.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/teleport008.jpg)

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/th_teleport009.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/teleport009.jpg)

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/th_teleport011.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/teleport011.jpg)

I *might* have to include sound effects with this one...assuming I find some...assuming I go looking for them...assuming I'm not being lazy. That's a lot to assume, you know.

Thanks, AA. I figured NC could use a new fx since he hasn't gotten one since...teleport_bamf by gryphon? That was in...2002? Anyway, to go along with UE's sandman...

Sandstorm

Sandblast

I don't know if I'll release the second one. The way it ends and brightens up kind of disturbs me, but I like it otherwise. BTB, I won't be releasing these fx individually this time around. I kinda refuse to make that many readmes, so it's going to be setup like my last X-pack. All the fx + tgas in one zip + a dat + a readme. And...for your convenience, pack 1 is already merged with pack 2. Oddly enough, I'm already at 22 fx for the pack (same size as the last), but I've made...40+ in a short amount of time.

Sidenote: if anyone has any NIF suggestions for angel/archangel...I'd love to hear them. I wanted to give him *something* feather related...but I haven't seen anything I could use yet.

Maybe you could do something like DarkMagik did http://www.fxforce.com/RNR/DMfeathers.jpg (http://www.fxforce.com/RNR/DMfeathers.jpg) and maybe you could use Ink's Longshot's knife fx (it comes with the mesh) for Archangel?

I considered the knife throw, but I was really trying to stick with max 5 nifs so the lighting effects and such came into play. I can probably pull off the feathers, but...iiiiiiiiiunnno.

eh...

I tried to play around with a "super breath" fx for a bit and I came out with a few things I didn't like. Pics below:

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/th_breath001.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/breath001.jpg)

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/th_breath006.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/breath006.jpg)

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/th_breath007.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/breath007.jpg)

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/th_breath008.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/breath008.jpg)

As you can see, it's passable...but it flashes blue at the end and overlays the original color. I sort of remedied that:

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/th_breath002.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/premo/fx%20WIPS/breath002.jpg)

But I still don't really like it. It ends, most of the time, before it even reaches the target...so, I think I might dump it instead of working on it even further.

Post by: Xenolith on September 27, 2008, 11:50:32 AM
I dunno, it's looks okay.  I'm not sure what you wanted it to look like though, so...?

If it's supposed to be super breath, then how about mixing in some lines moving away from the shooter?  Not a lot, but just enough to show motion?
Title: Re: prev's fx 2.0: releases, previews, your soul...
Post by: Epimethee on September 27, 2008, 04:28:16 PM
I certainly like it. While it might not be a perfect fit for super-breath, it would be excellent for gas attacks. FWIW, from the screen shots, the blueish colour shift doesn't seem reaaly annoying; I'd see it more as the gas reacting with the target or a UI clue to target being affected.

Post by: Previsionary on September 28, 2008, 10:59:42 AM
Thanks guys. I wanted it to look kinda like it did in...........I think either the cartoon or a game. Meaning I'd have to make it arctic blue (it actually is blue in the tga, but I did some editing to figure out where the color change was coming from since it's so sudden).

I would consider this if... A) I wasn't lazy and back into writing ^^  B) the texture wasn't so small  C) I could actually see how the effect lines up with the mesh since the "gas" is a particle system (or particle systems...), that's a little tough to do.

Could work as that (would that fit anyone beyond customs?), but the cone typically stops a few good steps away from the target (can't stretch it out at the moment)...though I guess it wouldn't matter much with gases.

Here's my "might do list" as far as today:

Archangel/Angel
Sabretooth...maybe
Some quick Iceman updates
Venom...doubtful (my plan for him fell through)
Emma (ummm....what does she do again?)
Jubilee

that's about it. Funny, this kinda sparked from me wanting to do Hulk based fx and I kind of forgot about him since he's pretty well covered.

Lorna got a minor update in her area attack as the other one had timing issues. Anyway, I should get to finishing these up one day...a day when my throat doesn't feel like it's rebeliing against my body. ^^

Fire 4-pack. (http://www.mediafire.com/?csjmdnmnbnt)

See pics in my last post for examples. It's the only thing I have uploaded right now that I can pass out. ^^. Hey, new content is new content. The other stuff will be in a pack if I ever find the time to complete it.

just got the x-men ones working, and i have to say, they're just awesome. no disrespect to anyone else, but i'd never really been happy with the cyclops blasts, they just didn't seem to sit right with me, but yours is just awesome, imo... really reminds me of the comics...

so now that i've buttered you up, any chance you can direct me to the gl fx that you'd recoloured as sinestro stuff? :P

As far as I know, the sinestro pack is still up (http://freedomreborn.net/archive/index.php?topic=41250.msg659389#msg659389).

Goodness gracious Prev!  You've been busy, my friend!  FX are way too often neglected, so forgive me for contributing to that neglect by not noticing your efforts here.  There is a lot in that last page to be impressed by.  I am personally cursing your existence for creating all those nice effects for Fire, because that means I'll have to update her at some point in time....not for the final release though, I have to stop giving myself more work for that or it will never happen!  Ha, anyway, some really great stuff there.  Thanks for your work man, it is definitely appreciated.

Thanks for the comments, guys. Oh, Benton, you knew it would happen though! I'm getting back at you for continuously ignoring Fire and Ice. Plus, she's in my mod...without her green flames she's just...a flying target!

prev i think it's funny that we think alike fx wise. about a week before you previewed your Fire fx i was going to send you the fire pack i did incase you wanted it. ... anyhow nice work.

Really? If only I had known that. :(

*notes: the next time I get the spirit to make new fx, hit up IPS first for textures. ^^*
