Title: shape shifters tips and tricks
Post by: Johnny Patches on November 26, 2008, 07:21:37 AM
...shape shifters...

.. its pretty easy once you get use to it, there are no tricks..
i used almost every shapshifter with the same method it seems to work fine so far
you can add fx's other meshes, bats, cars, planes, ect. ect.
pretty much anything or everything,
ok we will use morp_syn mesh..
its pretty much easier to use that mesh..
we will change the the dodge right mesh to a female mesh
(remember that smaller objects attach faster then bigger ones)
click the dodge right mesh in picture screen
in the block details list it highlites NiTriShape+Editable Mesh
click right mouse button go to flags
check the hidden then click accept..
it should disappear
then scroll up 1 to the NiNode+body_dodgeR
this is wear you paiste your parts too,
every mesh and mesh part has a NiNode and a NiTriShape.
open the female mesh in another Nifskope window, copy the Branch for the Scene Root
go back to morp_syn mesh (leave both winodws open)
paste the Branch for the Scene Root to the NiNode+body_dodgeR mesh
(the dodge left mesh has a dodge right name so im not crazy)
give time to attach.. go get a pop. or wash your hands
then wella there it is..
save it right away.. hate to lose it just as fast as you got it,
you are going to have to adjust it move it around to get it where you want it..
even pose it for pictures..
keep checking your character in C-tools so you get it just right.
dont forget too add those tga's in your standard skin folder.
i use  :ff: then convert it to  :ffvstr: cause its easier to view the fx's.
just add the fx's to female mesh, just skope her like you would any other mesh
but make sure your adding them to the female mesh .. so there is no tricks up my sleeves
even the wall just attach it to the wall's NiNode.. everything needs to be attached to a NiNode
when i get more time ill try to add a few pictures too this..
tips no tricks

You are talking about the key frames, not the mesh itself, right?  I'm confused.

So you paste the entire female mesh scene root into the male mesh's dodge key frame?  I have to say, these instructions are a bit confusing.

Then with all due respect...I'm not understanding your "tutorial" at all...It's confusing.

Are you saying there's actually a dodge_left mesh?

There's a word I don't see often enough on the interweb. I thought Erie and Pittsburgh were the only places that used it.

It's a piece of U.S. history. Many of the Polish immigrants in the 20th century were headed for Chicago. A large number of them mistook Erie for Chicago and settled here. True story.

Regarding Shapeshifters...

If you put male basic keyframes on Plastic Man TJ and look at it in CTool, you see all the meshes overlapping. Or at least you could in CTool1.

I have two female "dodge" meshes that I was trying to figure out how to get into the main mesh, but hadn't yet. I have a couple of toher distorted female meshes for other manuevers, so maybe I should get to work...

Does this mean characters like changeling, snowbird, captain marvel, elastic girl etc. can be played in the danger/rumble room without having two meshes - one with the shapeshifter FFX attribute and the other with the FFX temporary form? This would essentially combine both attributes into one mesh. Is that the idea cause that would be awesome. BTW, that nightcrawler with the teleporting FX is dead on. That adds a whole new level of characterization to the game. Good job, Johnny.

vale, me queda una duda, éxiste alguna manera de utilizar un mesh femenino en vez de uno masculino, osease, existe algun mesh femenino polimorfo? o ¿tengo que quebrarme la cabeza y sustituir el mesh masculino por uno femenino?

(ok, i still have a doubt, is there any way to change male_basic/cape to female_basic or any other female shapeshifter mesh? or ¿i'm going to need changing male_basic mesh for female_basic?

yes copy the whole branch on the female's NiTriShape + Editable Mesh and paiste whole branch on to the NiNode + male_cape then on male_cape's NiTriShape+Editable Mesh
click right mouse button go to flags
check the hidden then click accept.. and the male_cape it should disappear
