Post by: 77 on September 20, 2008, 02:04:08 PM
I am looking to buy a new gaming PC. Anyone know of a good reliable place to start looking, someplace where I can customize it to my needs....

I know alienware I was hoping not to spend that much....

Which 2k each, that's about £1000? well, you could buy an awful good pc with that. Mine is top of the range and only cost £600 with vista, but then I built it myself.

I would go onto Alienware, max out the graphics card and processor, chuck on 4 gigs of ram (64 bit of course) then see their quote. But you'll be the envy of me whatever you get :P

So here is what we decided to do. I called my little bro and ask him he same question. He is a bit of a geek (so is his wife) his response was "you know I build gaming PCs now right, just tell me what you want." So currently we are building "dream machines" for him to look and tell us a price. He does this thing online too. link if anyone is interested http://www.anguszone.com/

I'm glad you went for having one built for you instead of going to places like Alienware and Dell.  For 2K you can really get a nice "future-proof" computer, that will last you a long while.

My friend Stu bought an insane gaming laptop for $4000 in December of my last year of Uni. I built a cheapo gaming desktop the following June for $1300 that beats his laptop in every way.

Lesson learned: Laptops are garbage for gaming, relative to the price.
