Title: Oddball stores
Post by: Uncle Yuan on July 21, 2008, 08:41:26 AM
I was recently introduced to a very interesting on-line retailer, which reminded me of a similarly unique outfit that I've known about for years but lost track of.  It makes me wonder how many cool e-stores are known by our members.  Here's your chance to turn us on to your favorite!

My nomination: American Science and Surplus (http://www.sciplus.com/index.cfm)

Heh. I have been to their store in on Milwaukee Avenue in Chicago. Very fun place.

When I lived in San Jose, many of my little projects started out with a trip to Weird Stuff Warehouse (http://www.weirdstuff.com/) to see how much of the stuff I would need I could get cheap by pulling motors, electronics and other stuff out of surplus equipment they sold. I haven't been there in a while, but it looks like they have much of the same stuff available now online.

had this one on file for a while now, neat little place to get kits and parts for building your own robots.
