Title: To Boldly Go...
Post by: BentonGrey on July 10, 2008, 09:29:05 PM
Where everyone else has already gone.  I was in the store today, and I saw City of Heroes and City of Villains on sale for only ten bucks, so I picked it up on a whim.  I don't know if our internet will really be able to handle it, but I may see about paying for faster internet during my free month, to see if the game is worthwhile or not.  Whatever happens, expect to see The Rogue, and also an as-yet-unamed evil genius!

Great news BG! See you on there!

I played for several years using a dial-up connection. Eventually, I upgraded to DSL (which turned out to be cheaper than my old dial-up service, anyway), but I was able to enjoy the game even while using dial-up.

Anyway, have fun!

Cool, then it shouldn't be too big of a problem then, as we've got lower end DSL.  I'll go ahead and try it as soon as we get back then!  So, who is still playing?

Plenty of us.  We mostly play on the Freedom server.

Just as a warning though, don't expect to get the name "The Rogue" on any server.  You'll exercise that creative part of your brain trying to come up with possible variations.

Have fun!

And don't expect to be playing right away, even on high-speed DSL.  Those patches can take quite a while to download and apply...

Yeah, because you'll be updating a lot of Issues (expansions) and patches.

Be sure to toss up your global handle so we have a way of getting in contact with you.

Yeah......I've been thinking about that, and I'm really dreading the exercise in futility which my name search will surely be.  I'm thinking of Rogue of Blades, or something similar, but we'll see what we can see.

Glad to see I'll have good company playing!

Well, I'll definitely be looking for low-level fun this next week.  I'll likely be able to play between 1:30 and 4:00 CST during the week.  So...I'm excited, but can't play for two more days...someone tell me something cool about the game!

We're there.  What could be more cool than that? ;)

Seriously, the cool part is that you'll be able to do the early on leveling much easier and with much more variety than others of us had when we got started.

I'm occasionally on in the wee hours, so maybe I'll see you around :)

I have that time off in the afternoons there, so I'm hoping I"ll be able to make good use of my free month.  I am really looking forward to playing with my FR compatriots.  I suppose I do have the benefit of playing the game far along into it's life, after it has had the kinks worked out!

Of that I have no doubt, FR is, without a doubt, the greatest online community I've ever seen. ^_^  That's part of the reason I'm looking forward to playing this.  I've been able to play a game here and there with my forum mates, (a little NWN 2) but not much else.

Who's got Aquaman, 'cause I will fight them for it! ^_^

Just tell me how to join, and I'll be there!  I suppose I'll see how well I can recreate Black Manta.

The Rogue is alive and well in Patriot...err...Paragon City!  My name is The Rogue of Blades, and I'm going to try and play a bit this week between 1:30 and 4, so keep an eye out for me. :D

Also, we should TOTALLY create Freedom Force in this game...no one would notice!  I call Man 'O War and The Bard!

:EDIT: Mine is better:  [spoiler](http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/2861/aquamangq8.jpg)

Also, can anyone tell me how to send a friend request without clicking on the character?  I'd like to bother some of you other FR'ers sometime.

Type /f (character name)

For example, to add a character named, say, Tortuga to your Friends list, you type /f tortuga

Even more useful, though is /gf, which sends a global friends request to another player. Your global friends list can track players on any server, regardless of what character they're playing. You type /gf (global handle), where (global handle) is the player's global handle (which always starts with @). If you wanted to send my a global friends request, you'd type /gf @alaric 7 (@alaric 7 being my global handle). Unlike /f, this doesn't immediately add to your list- global friends always work both ways, meaning anyone you have on your global friends list also has you on theirs. Consequently, the player has to actually agree to the arrangement- if they are not currently on line when you use the /gf command, they will get the request the next time they log on (note, however, that a couple of times, when I logged into the game with a global friends request waiting for me, I accidentally turned it down before seeing who it was from, thinking it was a blind teaming invite...) There['s a sticky thread in this forum with people's global handles.

Bunneh!  Only gots a four hour day today so I will be in the Rogue Isles (trying to get my widow to branch) in about 6 hours from now.  Though I might be persuaded to run lowbies if we're doing that.  @Krimsonik for those who don't have me on their list yet.

quick note, teh new miss bunneh has teh new house and teh new distict lack of teh (not so new) interwebs, so i'm currently without ness for 3/4 days a week,
freedom is being iffy for me currently, uk -> us servers lag as it is, and with freedom being so popular it's difficult at times, currently running on triumph alot, but i'm open to starting some new on any light load server :P
