I went to the Adventurecon here Friday and Saturday - I bought a 3-day ticket but am not going back today because I'm almost out of money and can barely walk (couldn't find any place to sit yesterday, and I was there about 6 hours), and walked away with a lot of phat lewtz....er.....nice swag:
I got a free copy of a Hellboy The Golden Army comic that's a tie-in\lead in to the upcoming movie for pre-registering (Hellboy cover - there are 3 different covers), a free Young Heroes In (Love) Knoxville print signed by Dev Madan, a free copy of a comic called Frank Neil Stein: Monstertown P.I. done by Dev Madan and Keith Champagne - special Adventurecon version (has a black and white cover and a sticker on it (last copy Dev Madan had at his table, btw); the standard version has a color cover and no sticker), bought a copy of one of the Countdown To Final Crisis issues from Keith Champagne (issue 04, I think - the one where Mary Marvel becomes Black Mary) who also signed it and got him to sign my copies of JSA 61 and 62 (where the Hal Jordan Spectre takes on the Spirit King, the guy responsible for murdering the original Mr. Terrific), and bought a copy of Tangent: Superman's Reign #2 from Jamal Igle, who signed it. I also got Andy Smith to sign my FCBD Project Superpowers `Devil/Claw comic. (Was going to buy a Ghost Hunters International shirt from Brian Harnois, but I ran out of cash and he ran out of the particular shirt I wanted, but I did listen to him tell some pretty cool stories)
I also got 5 new pieces of art (2 free sketches and 3 pieces I commissioned and paid for), which are in my comicartfans.com gallery: http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryNew.asp?GCat=24836 <----link to the 5 new pieces; the link to the `front' of my gallery is in my signature. (I actually doubled the size of my gallery! :) )
Next year I'm getting an E-Man from Joe Staton and another piece from Andy Smith (leaning toward Red Sonja) if they return and I can attend. (Joe said he would probably be back; he was also here last year but I only went one day and wasn't able to get anything from him)
If anyone here is in Arizona, there will be an Adventurecon in Glendale in October. They've already announced two guests for the Adventurecon here next year: Ray Park (who was here a couple years ago, but I didn't go - last year was my first AC) and Amy Allen, who played the Jedi Aayla Secura (the blue skinned female Twi'lek) in Star Wars Episodes II and III.
