Title: Ink's Superman
Post by: daglob on June 11, 2008, 09:04:58 PM
I was looking at Ink's Superman and Superman 2 (thinking of doing some skins for one of them), and noticed in the "fly" animation, that the cape doesn't stay on his shoulders. Both of them.

Any idea why?

Okay, that's understandable.

Now, how do I fix it?

I think the best option is to skope the male_basic and the extras onto another mesh with the cape bones. You can even replace the cape with Ink's so it would be the same mesh with different animations.

I usually use Renegade's Superman, except for a few cases (like when I use my own George Reeves Superman skins on Male Cape No Belt). I just thought it would be a waste not to be able to use such a beautiful mesh.

So, you are saying that there is no way to fix the mesh? I had hoped that there was, because I have some other meshes with similar problems.

Skope off the hammer and shield and use Ren's male_cape (Superman) keyframes. That is what I did with my Superman Returns skope.

What happens is in some of the animations (flight, particulary) the cape leaves his shoulders and moves down his back. I have a couple of other meshes with this problem, and just haven't asked about it before.

Totally clueless question: can you scope the cape from a duplicate mesh onto the original?

Personally, I switch between Renegade's Superman mesh, and Tom's Superman_tf mesh as well as a modified Superman_tf mesh with key's from Tom's Hyperion_tvlite. My first suggestion would be to drop the keys from either mesh into the one that you're using, otherwise I would try AA's suggestion.

As for this, it is usually not a problem, unless you are using different nif versions, or you are copying from a dupe of the exact same mesh. Then you might run into the same problem.

EDIT: After looking at the Superman_Shield_Hammer mesh, if you just hide the shield and hammer, you should be fine. I can't find Ink's Superman and Superman 2 meshes to check them out. Sorry I can;t be more help.

I have a mesh called Superman_Ink_Noshield_Nohammer or something like that. I myself usually use Renegades Superman, with a fondness for Atomic Robot's 1940 newspaper series skin, or my own George Reeves skins on Male Cape Nobelt. I asked this question because I was doing a skin for Captain Kal-El, and amalgam of Captain Mar-Vell and Kal El. It got me to playing around with Ink's Superman meshes and considering the possibilities. Superman (and Batman) have a lot of costumes and costume variants that could end up at Character Obscura, and I was considering options.
