Title: Issue 12 live sort of
Post by: DMenacer on May 20, 2008, 10:37:38 AM
A new patch is live today with some of what was promised to be in Issue 12. I now have 5 more slots on the Freedom server in which I have already created 1 new hero out of. Now Doc Medic (Defender - Emp/Elec) a healer strong in electric shock treatments and his sidekick Nurse Nitengale (Controller - Ice/Emp) a healer strong in freeze perserving of body parts have a new partner in helping keep you super heroes alive. Nurse Hulahan (Controler - Plants/Emp) a healer strong in researching plants for healing herbs has joined them.

Uh, there's no "sort of" about it. This IS I12. Exactly which promised features do you think aren't included? Remember, there have been some coming features the devs have talked about that were never actually slated for I12- like player-created content and shield sets. Those things were never, ever stated by the devs to be part of I12.

when do we get to play our VEAT's? I logged in tonight, and saw the option, but could not create :(

of course, then my PC (new desktop) crashed COH, so I'll try again tomorrow.

You need to log in your 50 villain first.

I feel they could have taken some more time and fixed all the bugs, they are driving me nuts!

This is far from the buggiest issue release the game has had (or maybe I've just been lucky so far this time).

It varies for sure.  CoH is now broken on my desktop which is the good machine.  The laptop which is usually sub par for games and has vista with its little quirks, ran it fine (relatively speaking).  I updated my graphics drivers but that brought in a whole separate graphics issue so now i am rolling back one by one to find a driver that works.

I found last night's gaming experience to be fairly bug free.  Except for getting stuck with the Cure 20 Lost mission after my wand was taken away from me.

I tried one of the new missions from the guy at the Univeristy.    Unfortunately, I noticed that there was no experience for any mob and no experience for completely the mission.   For a moment I thought I had been auto-exple, but the mobs were my level (43) and none of my powers were blacked out to me.

I sent in a bug report.

I did see a lot of minor typo type issues, but nothing really game-breaking.

One of the Midnighter missions includes a glowie-type chest; when you click on it, it says you can't complete the objective yet.  Never could get it to let me click the glowie.  (Might possibly be due to the lone CoT I dropkicked into a wall and couldn't reach, or might not.)

That said, the Midnight Club introductory missions rock.  Even soloing them my level 10 scrapper leveled about 1 1/2 levels.  I almost didn't even mind running around curing Lost for no xp and no inf (there was a reward at the end, so it balances out).  Excellent re-use of Salvage and Invention Workbenches in a storyline.  I didn't notice any other instance where no xp accrued, so not sure what happened to you, AS.  I'll have to keep a closer eye on it next time I run through.

I was a bit disappointed in the descriptive text for the Blaster Mental secondary... not sure I'm going to go through with rebooting BlueBard as Sonic/Mental.  I had the impression it was going to be more than it now seems.  I haven't actually started one, which I probably should do before I dismiss it out of hand.

Lady Jane needs to be brought to the chest to complete the mission.

If Lady Jane faceplants are you screwed? (ie, kicked with Mission Fail coming up onscreen) Or can you log out and retry?

You don't get a mission bonus, but otherwise there is no penalty (you don't have to redo or anything) and you can continue with your next mission.

Thanks Al, after i worked out the latency issue (which i think was tied to old drivers, the remaining graphics issues were a result of the foolish fools defaulting the water to the highest setting.  Everything is running smooth and clear now...like an Oxy commercial.

The Tuesday 50 team failed on the first one, it does kick you out and say mission failed and all, but as Middy said it doesnt hold you up in the arc.  We did run it again just to keep all party memebers sinc'd.  You just have to try to take it one group at a time, but beware once you are in the rikti part of the cave Fusionn....i mean Lady Jane goes totally ape and runs off.

Somehow Atomic Saint  (solo!) kept Lady Jane alive  long enough to get to the box. I knew those healing powers would come in handy someday.

AncientSpirit (the fire/fire/fire tank, not me) also soloed this and kept Lady Jane alive and completed the mission.   But STILL couldn't click on the box.  He then went back and killed every living thing in every part of the mission ... and then went back for the glowie.

And still couldn't open the box.

You don't click the box, you just lead her to it.

Exactly what I was talking about.  I did lead her to the box just so, but the box continues to glow and clicking on it still gives you that text I mentioned.  I suspect that the chest should stop glowing and that text shouldn't appear; you really did complete every important objective.

Without actually having been there, it's hard to imagine exactly what went wrong.  I have done this mission twice, and it has worked fine when LJ didn't get herself snuffed.  When bugs this prominent get as heavily tested as they are right now, you see volumes about it on the official boards (i.e. Tort's issue with "Cure the Lost"), but this issue with the chest has not come up at all.  Maybe try running it again? I'm not sure.  More details from your experiences might be helpful here, or maybe try to catch one of us who have completed the mission and run it together.
