There will be one other main villain as well.  We'll see how this turns out.

How do you make Doomsday work as an ongoing villain? He doesn't plot and scheme, sitting in the background to build up drama, and then pounce... he's just a bomb. He shows up, causes a LOT of damage, and then Superman shows up and either kills him or doesn't. That's it. He doesn't work on anything bigger than a three-episode arc.

*shakes head*

Since Lex has consistantly been a more interesting character in this series than Clark, I have a bad feeling about this.

Didn't he grow a brain in the comics at one point?  He'd never be a Luthor, but I think he got a little smarter than just a bomb.

Also, he's not going to be the MAIN replacement for Luthor..that honor goes to:

Female villain: "Doomsday won't be Clark's only nemesis in the upcoming season. The executive producers are tight-lipped about a new female villain they will be introducing, but they can say she will be familiar to many fans and will set her sights on Clark in ways Lex never could. Intelligent, brilliantly manipulative, and dangerously sinister, our gorgeous new villain has one more weapon in her arsenal: Her mutual attraction with Clark may prove to be as deadly as kryptonite for him."

Any guesses??

That crazy girl who rides on that rocket thing, obv.

EDIT: Roxy Rocket, that's right! For the remainder of the series, Clark is going to have to match both brains and brawn with Roxanne "Roxy Rocket" Sutton!

Pfeh. I haven't watched the series since, basically, Angel was canceled. At that point, I decided that hating Lana had become more of a chore than a pleasure. But, on a couple occasions, someone mentions something cool they've introduced and I am tempted to give it another shot. Then I hear something like this and I cringe. I don't know who the new femme fatale is supposed to be (it could be Lori Lemaris, for all I know), but Doomsday started out in the comics as a lame plot device and I haven't followed closely enough to know if he's ever developed into a worthy top-tier Superman rogue. I certainly can't see a whole season centered around him.

No Michael Rosenbaum is going to be a huge mistake.

So Superman also fought Doomsday before ever putting on a costume?  That makes total sense.

That about sums it up... I never made it past season 3 before I threw up my arms and walked away...

Smallville is worthless except when they're exploring the wider DCU.  Even then, their batting average is spotty, at best.

Wow, it seems like my daughter and I are the only ones who still really enjoy this show.

I'm surprised.  I think it keeps getting better and better.   (on alternating weeks, that is.  even we recognize that.) :D

I still like it too AncientSpirit, though it is erratic.  I was really hoping they'd do more with the Brainiac storyline but it was somehow... lacking.  Did like the Jimmy-centered episode though.

Yeah, I was kind of hoping they'd do more with Brainiac too.   Especially since they had him back on Krypton.  I figured he'd bring back a nice bottle of Kandorian wine or something.   ;)

And speaking of Jimmy, I think this is the best portrayal of Olsen since Jack Larson back in the 50s ... he certainly looks more like Jimmy than anybody, including Larson.

No, that bullet appears to have been dodged.  New info:

"I'm told the female villain will be named Tess. In her late-20s, smokin' hot and incredibly strong, Tess will take aggressive control of Lex's estate in his absence. While she's perfectly capable of making her own decisions, she will always differ to Lex's wishes, as she's completely devoted to him. She could prove to be his greatest asset, as she possesses numerous talents, including a power of persuasion that even Clark can't resist. Still, she knows something isn't right, as she can't recall any of her life before meeting Lex, which leads me to believe that he's got her under some sort of spell."

Ughh.....I still can't believe we didn't get Aquaman, but we've had a zillion more seasons of this dren than were ever a good idea.  If they were smart they'd have done Aquaman for three or four seasons, then switched to Green Arrow, so on and so forth.

Quite likely.  I've only ever seen about 3 episodes . . .

Where a lot of shows improve with at least a few seasons under their belt, Smallville is a show I think has only gone downhill from it's first season, which I liked.  It took the fourth season to break me of my affection for the show, but every season seemed to get a little bit worse to me.
