i cant unforutnately cause it didnt hook them up to parts of the hero
Quotei cant unforutnately cause it didnt hook them up to parts of the hero
Im not sure that I understand.
When you create a hero in the character creation screen, and you create or give them a power, when you go to choose what FX the power should have... there should be a bunch of new ones. Do the new FX appear in the list (probably at the bottom)?
ok here what i did
1. installed EZFX
2. went to Char customization
3. no new FX
4. look in FFEDIT and saw they didnt even show up there
so do you know what i need to do?
what version did you use
only ezfx 6 works with :ffvstr:
the newest one on Alex's FF
Hi! I'm sorry to interrupt here, but I had a problem with EZFX as well. I'm something of a noob in the area of FX's and mods, so I apologize in advance for any misunderstandings I may cause. Anyway, I downloaded EZFX 6.0 from Alex's website and it worked fine for :ffvstr:
However, I then downloaded FFX 3.0. After this I tried to install EZFX for that mod, which seemed to be succesful. However, when I start FFX 3.0 none of the FX from EZFX 6.0 are available. They all seem to be listed under the 'fx' folder in FFX 3.0, but they just don't show up in the game. Have I done something wrong?
1) open the mod through ffedit
2) click the fx tab
You should see "aff_[xxxx]" for the first 50 or 60 fx.
Not there?
EZFX installs by default to your "Data" folder. If you installed it into your mod folder, you'll probably have a folder named "Data" inside your mod folder. If so, you've got one extra level of folders so the game will not be able to find them. Copy/past the Art and Sound folders inside this new folder to your FFX folder. Overwrite if prompted. If you're not sure, you can also transfer the files manually. Just go inside the EZFX "art" and "sound" folders until you find the files and the copy/paste them to the proper location in your mod folder.
You may also have to merge your .dat files (fx and sound) if the fx are still not showing up in FFedit.
Just make backups before you try anything.
I'm sorry, but how do I open the mod in FFedit?
When I opened it up, all the fx were listed, but for some reason I think that's just for the original game, not FFX 3.0. Once again, I apologize for my noobishness.
No problem, we were all noobs once.
Besides, I did a quick check of the game FAQs and the Wiki and didn't see it there, so you didn't miss anything :P
First of all, if you haven't made any changes to FFX3, the easiest thing is to reinstall it. It will read the EZFX installation and add the fx to your FFX3 directory. That's the easiest way to add the new fx.
Failing that, you can do it the old fasioned way. The good thing about the old fashioned way is that you get comfortable working with FFedit....but it takes a lot longer.
1) Open FFedit
2) Click on "Options" tab
3) You should see "Primary Data Path"; click browse and navigate to your mod folder (don't select any files, just the folder where the mod is);
4) Look for "Secondary Data Path"; click browse and navigate to your "Data" folder (it may point there already)
You are now modifying the .dat files found in the your mod folder. Any missing .dats will be loaded from your "Data" folder.
If I understand you correctly, you saw the "aff_[xxxxx]" in FFedit (prior to loading your mod folder)?
If so, then the fx loaded correctly into your default folder (i.e. "Data")
To get them in your mod, you must merge .dat files. The important thing to remember about merging DATs is that whatever your MERGE FROM will overwrite what you MERGE TO. Be sure to make backups before you start.
1) copy the fx.dat and sounds.dat files from your Mod folder and place them somewhere safe (we'll need them later);
2) copy the fx.dat and sounds.dat files from your Data folder and place them in your mod folder (do not delete them from your Data folder, you may need them later)
3) Open FFedit, click on "Options" tab
4) About 1/2 way down you should see a section called "DAT File Processing"; click "Merge DATs"
5) A window will open up asking to select a file to MERGE TO. Navigate to your Mod folder, and select fx.dat.
6) As soon as you click "Open", another window will open asking you to MERGE FROM. Navigate to the safe place you pasted your Mod's fx.dat and click "Open". Depending on the speed of your computer, it may take a minute or 50. Repeat for sounds.dat
When you click on the "FX" tab, you should now see all the new fx.
