This is a game whose last version was released three years ago, that sold badly, and all this time later is still attracting fans to its website.
Why ?
Because it's brilliant of course !
So would Freedom Force itself give up home for a sequel ? No they would not !
I propose that we take a month to gather here all the best ideas for a campaign to have Freedom Force III produced.
And then in a month's time we can start getting them into motion.
My suggestion is we could petition the British prime Minister. This can be done electronically on any subject - providing we spin it correctly. So we ask the British prime Minister to "Encourage the production of a third Freedom Force game because: -
1) In a world where computer games regularly feature sadistic brutality Freedom Force represents the struggle for Freedom and justice against the evils of Communism and Fascism. And interlopers from other dimensions.
2) Freedom Force is diversity aware. It has men, women, white people, black people, Arab people, and people with disabilities. And aliens and robots from the far future. All are treated equally.
3) Frredom Force emphasises the duty of the strong (heroes) to protect the weaker (police, civilins, buildings of cultural importance).
This is a serious suggestion - if we can establish a big enough campaign we could get them to make a new game.
Perhaps someone could design a T shirt to be sold to publicise the campaign ?
We could have rallies simultaneously world wide !
Rally to the flag Freedom Fans. We have nothing to lose but more of our free time...
Sorceror.....x.
Ooh! Ooh! And maybe the chancellor of the exchequer will design the first three levels ... pre-tax ...
High marks for the enthusiasm, lad, but it seems almost certain that IG has moved on to bigger and better things. Besides, I'm not certain I would want IG to do a Freedom Force sequel at this point if it would resemble Bioshock.

Yeah, I'm afraid there's little we can do at this point. Sorry, Sorceror.
Yeah, I contacted President Bush hoping he'd pull some strings and he said he'd help us out only if we replace Minute Man with a Texas Cowboy who uses a lasso to catch and hang the primary evil-doer - a middle-eastern terrorist. ;)
But, really - I'd love to see some of the Community's Modders get together and create an new campaign for our Heroes and Villains, with maybe some new characters? Maybe could be done with EZScript?
Well, a group of fellows at MeshMatters made a start on developing/updating the FFvTTR characters for a "What If...?" alternate Silver Age future (one that spun off from the mainstream FFvTTR continuity when Blitzkrieg altered the past--one in which the Third Reich was triumphant in WWII), but progress on that mod has been effectively halted due to RL and other projects. Anyone who would like to help revive that project is welcome to volunteer. Symon developed the initial mod concept, and DJ was supplying skins for new/altered meshes that I was working on, but the project could certainly use mapmakers, coders, etc.

What's the pay/benefits of working on this project with you?

What's the pay/benefits of working on this project with you?
The infinite pleasure of working with a great tactician (moi), plus the bounty of a permanent seat at my well-laden table at Ithaka, 100 head of pasture-plodding oxen, a bottomless cup of wine kissed by Dionysos himself, my second-best bed, and the hand of my son, Telémakhos, in marriage.

and i was just gonna say a kick in the nuts
On a serious note (at least one that doesn't involve anyone's nuts) I REALLY seriously considered a FF3 style mod awhile back, but the thing that really seemed to hurt it more than anything is the fact that we wouldn't have the voice work to make it 'flow' with ff and FFvTTR. In fact, I, personally, am limited to no speech in a mod due to lack of good voice over skills myself...
Regardless, if anyone was cool with a non-speaking version or if 15 or so people were up to adding their voice talents, I would definately be interested in working on something with folks...
i'll throw my voice in the works.
I think the people on this board are the true heart and soul of Freedom Force. Many have been here since the first game was released and the boards are still going strong long after the last game has had it's hayday. Not many games have that kind of following.
It would be amazing if we could pull together and create our own game similar to FF using a free program like Blender. A spiritual successor or superhero simulator so to speak. Blender has it's own game engine, though I don't know it's capabilities I do know that it supports python scripting like FF and is a completely free modeling and asset creation tool. The FF community has amazing scripters, modelers, texture artist's, etc. I know I'm dreaming but hey I just would like to see a game designed around the basis of FF but free and in the control of the people that have a passion for the product and not something that lives or dies based on the amount of cash it puts in someones pocket.
You know, I've kicked around several ideas for an FF III, and if I live to be 200 (after 100 being devoted to Marvel U According to Grey, of course) I will probably put together an EZScript version of one of them, maybe utilizing some of the Liberty Bay characters in a classic JLA/JSA crossover style.
I'd love to see this happen. Once upon a time I could do a passable imitation of quite a few voices in the game...Bless those acting classes of so long ago. I am sure I am quite rusty, but I might still have it in me to have a go at it...
Now what was this about first sons and wedded bliss? No never mind...after the voice overs...Talk to me about that after.
