Title: Sunshine
Post by: bredon7777 on January 13, 2008, 09:35:06 AM
Wow. Just watched this yesterday; this is probably the most intense suspense film I have ever seen. Two hours of nailbiting, edge of your seat suspense.  I literally felt wrung out after it ended.

The film deals with a mission to re-ignite the sun, and that's really all I can say without spoiling it. It features excellent performances all around, but standouts include Cilian Murphy and Chris Evans.

HIGHLY recommended.

I thought the last 15 minutes were terrible, but up to that point it was a fantastic film. All

:spoiler: :spoiler: :spoiler:

And by the last 15 minutes, I mean the moment the psychopathic, super strong burn-victim was introduced.

I was hoping to see something that hadn't been done countless times before.  Unfortunately, Sunshine combined plot elements from other sci-fi movies into one very predictable package.  While it's ok to be predictable in some other genres, it is not ok for a thriller.  On the plus side, Cillian Murphy actually got a chance to shine as a heroic character.  unfortunately, not much can be said about the other actors that were barely used in their respective cardboard cutout roles.  I just saw this a few days ago, and already most of it has been forgotten.  It's too bad.  I was hoping for better.

I liked it but I thought it got a bit event horizony towards the end.

I thought this looked good, but a lot of the reviews basically summed it up as "28 Days Later in space".

I might rent it someday though.

During the meaty part of the movie my "date" mumbled something unintelligible and made a call on the cell phone.  A long and loud conversation proceeded (about 30min).  Good thing we were the only people in our area.  Perhaps, this is the last time I will take her out.

Watched it last night. Not bad. It wasn't a great science fiction movie, but it was worth watching. The acting was good and I had no complaints about anything technical, really. (<grumble> submersed computing system in 2057 <grumble>)

thalaw2, I must say, she was totally rude! Even people receiving a call on their mobile usually have enough courtesy to excuse themselves and walk out into the hall/lobby whatever, much less someone placing a call.

If a girl did that to me, she wouldn't be getting a call back much less another date.  As a matter of fact, I would've probably left her at the theater.

I wanted to leave but she was using my cell phone, which I started to snatch from her more than once (but didn't follow through)...Anyway, I'm not that hard up for companionship.  She's officially on the list.

Bwahahaha! You have to admit, especially in the sequence it came out here, that story was hilarious. She kept you there with your own cell phone, whose use was the reason you wanted to leave. At least your viewing experience had something most of us didn't see much of in the movie: situational irony.
