Title: "State of the Game" Feedback
Post by: MJB on January 10, 2008, 12:32:41 PM
Lighthouse posted the 2008 "State of the Game". Lots of stuff we've heard before and a few new details. All in all I thought it was just a big teaser for the coming months.

Two sweet things that he announced are the next Double XP weekend and server upgrades! :thumbup:

Read it for yourself HERE (http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=newsdiscuss&Number=9989822&bodyprev=#Post9989822).

REAL NUMBERS!

Sounds good to me.

I hope that 'smoothing the XP curve' will help people level at the 30+ range.  I'm not there yet, but for all those trying to level up to 50 it sounds great.

I don't pay that much attention to the 'Real Numbers' anyway, but if it helps somebody put out a new hero builder tool I'm all for it.  I wish NCSoft would develop an official offline hero/villain builder tool that's supported, accurate, and current.  I'm not talking about costume design, but powers and slotting.  Although if they wanted to re-release the character design tool I wouldn't object.  {dreamer.}

I'd have to say I'm most interested in the City Vault at the moment.  There's a lot of potential there, hopefully beyond just trying to recruit for SG's and Teams.

I predict, though, that the in-game spamming will probably increase as a direct result.  Which is too bad... if it drives everyone to hide their characters it (the Vault) will fizzle.  They need to modify the mail system to be filtered on whitelists, just like the Friends system is.  (ie. You can't send me mail unless you're a- In my Friends list, b- In my SG/VG, c- A Dev/Admin, or d- the Server).  Not much they can do about chat spam, though.  That would be a good QoL issue to tackle.
