Title: Best New Year's Resolution ever
Post by: Tortuga on January 02, 2008, 01:52:34 PM
The evening of January 1st, we had some friends over for supper.  As we ate dinner, Madam T explained what New Years Resolutions were and then proceeded to ask everyone around the table (3 adults, 3 kids)what they would try to do better this year.

My friend Tom said he wanted to spend more time working on writing.  He enjoys writing, and he's good at it, but he doesn't give himself enough time.

I said that I would be more dedicated to doing my physiotherapy/exercises.  I started a pretty rigorous exercise schedule in April 2007, and was doing fairly well up until December 2007.  It's time to get back on track.

Our son (Tortling 1, who's now 3.5 years old) said that he would try to play on his own more often.  We love playing with him, but it would be good for him to learn how to play independently as well.

Tom's one daughter (4.5 years old), said she would make her bed more often.

And then Madam T asked his other daughter (also 4.5, they're twins).  Responding seriously and quite pensive, she said her resolution was to...

"Hit bad people."

All the adults had a good laugh.  Tom, her father, suggested that she just work on making her bed as well.

It's nice to see I'm still having a positive impact on the kids.

A strong need to hit bad people is one of the primary symptoms in kids destined to become super heroes. Other possible symptoms to watch out for include a desire to wear colorful spandex and a strong tendency to get into bizarre accidents involving radiation, strange chemicals, or magicial artifacts.

"No child of mine is going to be a sidekick! Wait until your 18 and be your own hero!"
