Title: Lunarman does a picture! Never?!
Post by: Lunarman on January 01, 2008, 10:52:16 AM
Well, today I was mucking about (well actually the last two days, this took longer than I thought) and did a drawing of my GW character, Mazey Vorastagg.

This is the biggest size I could get uploaded to Photobucket, but anyway. Here she is!

Comments and Crit please, as this is the first stuff I've really done I'm interested to see what you think.

Thankyou

Not to bad for your first attempt - The coloring is amazing as is the fireball but the drawing itself is a little weird to me - I'm interested to see how your future stuff will look

Thanks, I know I'm not very good at drawing, it's the coloring that I really like and feel I can do well.

The drawing itself is mostly just a trace of a GW pose (except the legs, which you can probably tell) and I traced the hands over photos of my real hands as well so I could get it right, but I think the proportion's a bit off.

Thanks for the comments!

This is a WIP. I might as well show it now because I don't know whether I'll be able to finish it any time soon (school starts again tomorrow,  arg). It's Akasha Jezebel, my necro (who's looking so grumpy because I've not played with her in ages, she's not even got heroes)
Anyway. This one's bigger, so a thumbnail instead

what do you think?

I really like the pose and the detail. The hair needs a few more lines, not too many mind you but a few.

The hair will be done with colour :P

I can't wait myself to see her finished, lol

Wait, you play Guild Wars?

;)

Anyways, I think it looks good, though the proportions on the fireball pic is a bit off especially on the legs. I do oh-so-love the fireball though

Well, she's done :)

But I'm stuck on the background. I started doing an echovald forest scene where she was standing against a tree but it didn't look (e.g, I couldn't draw it) right and didn't feel right. For a desktop background it needs to be less confusing than a whole scene.

So. I've put a few options here, what do you think should be the final or should I try something different?

Thankyou

Lunarman

ps. Sevenforce, I do play GW. We've spoken in game, lol. But admittedly it was a long time ago, when I was in CotT. My IGN in Mazey Vorastagg, so you can add me if you like.

I know you're focused on colouring, but it never hurts to work on your figure-drawing and anatomy. You'll find that most people who are painters/colourists have actually invested a lot of time in learning the fundamentals of figure drawing and drawing from life. That being said, you're off to a good start!

As for specific pointers, http://www.lunacore.com/ is one of the most comprehensive Photoshop resource sites out there (although many of the articles assume that the reader has at least intermediate experience in the use of the program).
